Do You Recycle?

As I was unloading my recyclables into the containers at NexCycle, I was amazed at how busy the place was today. It seems like a year or so ago, when my husband and I started recycling, the place was never very busy at all. We’ve got a NexCycle trailer in our Bel Air and Raley’s parking lots, where we take our recyclables.  I think people are really starting to realize the importance of recycling. Not only is it great for the environment, but it is an easy way to make a few bucks. Back when we first started to recycle, my husband would call the earnings his Licorice Money! He has a love for licorice and he felt bad about spending what little money we had, on his little cravings. It would take a while to build up enough recyclables to make it worth the trip, but now that I have started couponing, I have more to recycle. I find great deals on soda pop and bottled water; then turn around and recycle the containers to make the original deal even more thrifty! I now have family members giving me their recyclables to recycle. My recommendation is to find a place in your garage or somewhere else that is not in the way; and stick a garbage bag on a nail or hook, to stick your plastics and/ or cans in. Before you know it, you’ll have enough to make it worth the trip. We made an EASY $12.99 today just by saving our bottles and cans. We are now using our recyle money to save for a little family vacation!

I’d like to know if you recycle and what kind of systems you have!! I’d love to hear your tips or stories on how recycling has been a part of your life. Do you have a goal set to recycle, or something you’d like to save for with your recycling money?

We don’t recycle besides the regular recycle bin. Although we never have cans and rarely bottles. I don’t even know where the closest recycling place is.
