Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce

Since I decided to make Crock Pot Brownies tonight, I thought that we ought to have some homemade hot fudge to go on top of our brownie sundaes! I LOVE Hot Fudge, and homemade hot fudge is EVEN BETTER than store-bought. My mom’s recipe is fabulous, and similar to this one, but I got one from About.com, in a pinch. And of course, it’s less expensive! If you are interested, you can see my Crock Pot Brownies recipe Here.

Serves: A LOT

Ingredients
  • 1½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ¾ cup cocoa
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 can (14 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 Tbs butter
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, cocoa, flour, and salt.
  2. Add milk, water, and butter to the dry mixture in the saucepan, and mix until liquid is fully encoporated.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until boiling. Cook 5 minutes longer, after mixture comes to a boil.
  4. Remove hot fudge sauce from heat, cool, then stir in vanilla. Because I am impatient, I didn’t wait for it to cool, and it turned out just fine and tasty!

  1. [...] I was in charge of dessert tonight and thought I’d try something in the Crock Pot. So I went hunting for a Brownie Recipe for slow cookiers and came up with this delicious recipe from What’s Cookin’ Italian Style Cuisine. I actually goofed a little and thought the recipe said to cook on high, so my edges got a little overdone, but all was well with the middle, because we noticed the problem early enough. These brownies were delish! I also had some Neapolitan Ice Cream and thought I’d whip up some homemade Hot Fudge, to go along with it. You can get my hot fudge recipe HERE. [...]
