You all know that movie nights are one of my favorite things to do with hubby and the kids. Sometimes we’ll tuck the kids in bed and the hubs and I will snuggle up for our own movie night, whether it be a romance, comedy or action movie. I have been discussing movie night and my must-haves lately, so I wanted to share 3 ways to prepare for the perfect movie night.
Company & Seating
When planning a movie night, you need to think about who you want to watch the movie with. Is it appropriate for the kids? Is one you want to watch with just the girls? Or maybe it’s a romance that you need your hubby for! I suppose I don’t NEED anyone else for movie night, but I sure do love having my husband to snuggle with. If he’s away then a small child will do (preferably one of my own). If they’re in bed and it’s just me, then I will even cuddle with my puppy. I’ve got to admit that she’s pretty cuddly! I suppose this all means that I really like to snuggle. Once you know who you want to watch your movie with, then be sure to make appropriate seating accommodations. Sometimes movie night requires my bed, so I can watch from the comfort of my fluffy pillow and comforter!
Pick Your Movie
The most important part for most everyone is the movie you decide to watch! Some viewers are not very discriminate and will watch just about everything, but I prefer to enjoy what I watch. I like a variety of genres, but don’t get into the thrillers too much. I liked them when I was younger, but now that I’m older and have children of my own, I try to stay away from thrillers. I think the world has enough scary stuff in it without us adding to it through movies. I love a good romantic comedy, dramas, action and even a little sci-fi. Inspirational films and animation are always good too!
Now how do you know what movie you should pick, or what critics you should listen to? I’ve wondered this myself, but have discovered the Find Your Critic Tool! Rotten Tomatoes (a very popular movie critiquing website) and Pop Secret (our beloved Popcorn brand) have teamed up to bring viewers the Find Your Critic Tool. I just tried this nifty tool out and what it does is help you figure out which movie critics you should listen to, or trust. To get started, you will be asked to give a 1-5 star rating of 12 different movies. Then the tool will do some calculating to figure out which critics share your taste in movies. It even helps you follow your critics’ new movie reviews and recos. Then when it’s time to pick out a movie, see what your matched critic recommends!
While you only have to rate 12 movies to get matched with some critics, you can keep rating to get an even closer match. I found it kind of addicting and just kept on rating and rating! Go ahead and give the Find Your Critic Tool a try!
Goodies
Now that you’ve got your guests and movie planned, the last thing to think about is the FOOD! I recently shared what things I like to eat on movie night and brownies and popcorn were at the top of the list! My homemade frosted brownies and Pop Secret popcorn, to be exact. You can’t go wrong with a trusted microwaveable popcorn!
I think we’re all set for movie night, so what movie will it be?
At Pop Secret, we love movies as much as you love movies. That’s why we created the Find Your Critic tool with Rotten Tomatoes. It helps you figure out which movie critics you should listen to. All you have to do is rate some movies and the tool figures out which critics share your taste in movies. It even helps you follow your critics’ new movie reviews and recos. So when it comes to enjoying movies, the only thing you have to worry about is which kind of Pop Secret to make. Check it out!
