Vote for Causes to Receive $25,000 from the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Program

“I participated in an Influencer Activation for the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for State Farm. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating.”

As a blogger who frequently represents products and brands, I have also had the privilege to take part in some great causes. I have been able (and even encouraged) to do some good in my community, and through my blog. I have always been a firm believer that serving others can bring happiness not only to those we are serving, but also to ourselves. When someone is miserable, I say get lost in the service of your fellow men. If nothing else, it will help you forget about your problems for a little while. I really ought to listen to my own advice about now!

One of the most recent service projects I took part in was compiling Easter baskets for children in need, in my own community. A women’s group through my church donated items, we met and put the baskets together, and I helped drive them to a local community center where they would be distributed. I made sure my little girl knew what was going on, and had her help me get the baskets out of the car and deliver them. It is important to start kids young on service, because then it is more likely to stick when they become adults. If your children aren’t serving with you then at least let them see you serve – they will remember it!!

State Farm believes in serving and giving too! Each year, State Farm donates money to a variety of causes within different communities, through the State Farm Neighborhood Assist Program. Your community could even be the recipient of one of these grants! From April 28 through May 16, you can log onto Facebook and use the free State Farm Neighborhood Assist Facebook app to vote daily for your favorite cause, or causes. By voting, you will be helping to bring a whopping $25,000 to the top 40 causes with the highest amount of votes. That’s some good you can do right there, and just with the click of a button!

I decided to head over and cast my vote. It’s so difficult to decide because so many communities are in need of help! I love that you can look at a map of the United States, and there are pins showing which communities are up for the grant. The pin might be labeled “Education”, “Safety” or “Community Development”. So, depending on what kind of cause you want to aid, you can just look for those types of pins and let the voting go from there. You can even vote 10 times per day! Choose the same cause, or spread your votes out among many causes. I decided to start searching by my state, and then narrowed it down to Community Development. Rocklin is a city not far from me, where they are asking to use the grant to help fund a program for Youth Enrichment. I think it would be fantastic to have more youth programs to help build leadership, confidence and sense of community. That’s where my votes went today, but I plan to do some more searching to see if I find any other causes I want to aid.

Go do some good today and cast your vote! Then comment below with what cause you decided to help with voting.
