Boo-tiful Halloween Appetizers

I love fall! I love fall weather, fall decorating, fall pumpkins and especially fall holidays! To celebrate I’m already busy planning for a fun Halloween by trying out some festive foods for our family Halloween Party.

In the spirit of the season, I am “treating” you with a 4-part series on festive Halloween Party foods that will be sure to have all of your little ghosts and ghouls howling! Just as in the case with any party, I thought I would get us started with some yummy appetizers!

Right now is a great time to start planning and shopping for a Halloween Party because you can get everything you need at great prices during Albertson’s Stock Up Sale. This week (10/1/14-10/7/14) you can stock up on all of the ingredients to make these two boo-tiful appetizers that will get your party started.

Witches Broom Appetizers

These snacks are adorable and easy to make and make a great little pre-trick or treat snack for the kids!

Ingredients:
1 package of Frigo String Cheese
1 package of stick Snyders Pretzels

  1. Cut each stick of string cheese in half and slightly tear individual threads apart on one side
  2. Gently push pretzel stick through the top (untorn) portion of the string cheese

Frightening Frog Spicy Taco Dip

Halloween parties are all about making your guest feel squeamish right? Serve this spicy dip in this fun frog mouth that is sure to surprise your guests!

1 green pepper
2 whole black olives
1 cup sour cream
3 Tbsp taco seasoning
Tortillas chips or bugles (for dipping

  1. Mix sour cream and taco seasoning in a small bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour
  2. Cut off the top “stem” part of the green pepper and remove all of the seeds from inside the pepper and place on its side on a serving plate
  3. Attach black olives to the top of the pepper using toothpicks.
  4. Right before serving, fill pepper with taco dip and serve with tortilla chips or bugles.

And stop by the bakery to sample their freshly baked pumpkin chocolate chip cookies (on sale for $3.99 for a box of 10). You “have” to make sure they taste good before getting them for the party (wink, wink).
