Enjoying Family No Matter The Differences

Enjoying Family No Matter The Differences

This past weekend was spent in Tahoe celebrating my in-law’s 40th anniversary, and attending my sister-in-law’s wedding. This was the first time I’ve gone away with my husband’s family, and shared a cabin with half of them. Luckily I met most of them at our wedding in January, so I was already comfortable with the group. Whether it is my family or my husband’s family, something I have learned over the years is that it is important to be enjoying family no matter our differences.

It so interesting to me how siblings can be raised in the same family, with the same parents, yet everyone grows up with different beliefs. Each person is different from another, and I have learned to love and appreciate the differences in each of us. The thing that ties us all together is love and respect for one another. This reminds me of Honey Maid’s This Is Wholesome campaign. This Is Wholesome not only reflects Honey Maid’s delicious snacks made with real ingredients (hurray for that), but it reminds us that no matter how things change, or what makes us different from one another, what makes us wholesome stays the same.

Being with family this past weekend was a perfect example of what this campaign stands for. Keith (my husband) has an incredible family (as do I). I have never seen a family come together so much for any occasion. All of hubby’s mom’s siblings were in attendance for the entire weekend! There were tons of cousins, aunts, uncles, great aunts, and so on. Each individual was so different, but they all get along so great. It truly is a treat to see the whole family in action. Set up and take down for each meal and event was so smooth and quick because everyone worked as a team. This made it easy to celebrate what we were there to celebrate – LOVE!

Whether we were all sitting around chatting, playing in the stream behind our cabin, or playing at Lake Tahoe, everyone was kind and respectful to one another. My kids made new friends with cousins they just met for the first time, and a great time was had.

So, as you gather with your family and friends this 4th of July season, I ask you to not judge the differences, but just enjoy each other. Don’t forget to grab your Honey Maid Teddy Grahams for snacking in between pool time and grilling. Because after all, food can bring a crowd together!

No matter how things change, what makes us wholesome never will. Honey Maid provides wholesome snacks for every wholesome family.
