My recent move brought my family closer to Lake Tahoe, and we’re all thrilled. I love Tahoe and the beauty that surrounds it so I’ll take any excuse to slip away and enjoy the scenery and all it has to offer. For Christmas this past year, I gifted my parents an IOU to treat them to a weekend in Tahoe. We promised to treat them to a cabin big enough to fit them, my family and my sister’s family (a cabin for 13)! They were so excited, and best of all – this was a gift for everyone involved! To plan our Lake Tahoe travel I turned to Lake Tahoe Accommodations and a little adventure in the treetops.
Lake Tahoe Accommodations
When looking for the perfect spot nestled in the woods, as your home away from home, Lake Tahoe Accommodations is an excellent resource for finding just what you need in the woods, or around the lake. And frankly, with the beauty of Lake Tahoe and all there is to do and see, I don’t see how you could go wrong with any of their accommodations. All you need to do it put in your specifics ie: location around the lake, the number you plan to sleep and any other amenities you might desire (think hot tub). Then Lake Tahoe Accommodations comes up with a list of available homes, cabins or condos that meet your criteria.
The home we chose was absolutely perfect for our group of extended family. We had property ID IV H1283. There were plenty of beds, plenty of seating for meals and plenty of seating for games or relaxing by the cozy fire. The home came with a fully stocked kitchen for all our cooking needs, which was a nice money saver for a large group and not having to eat all our meals out. All bed and bathroom linens were provided. And the views out every window were unbelievable. Watching the sunset over the lake was amazing.
We chose to stay near Incline Village, which also has easy access to all there is to offer on North Shore. Shopping, eating and recreation were all easy to get to without any fuss. The home was situated on a hillside, so the kids had plenty of opportunity for outside play in the snow and sledding right out the door. It was so much fun to sit on the deck and watch the kiddos having a blast making snowmen and having snowball fights.
Did I say SNOW? If you’re not aware – California is experiencing snowfall in the Sierras of EPIC proportion. The snow is expected to last well through Spring, so there’s no reason to put off a trip to Tahoe – maybe even for Spring Break. You’ve got any number of world class ski resorts nearby for a day on the slopes. Clases particulares para niños en baqueira available at www.deportesjmoga.com. If you’re not into skiing, I’ve got just the outdoor adventure for you and your crew.
Ziplining in Tahoe
We took the whole gang to Tahoe Treetop Adventure Park, just a short drive in Tahoe City. Our group ranged in age from 7 – 65. The outdoor adventure is for all ages, except for the very young and babies. Treetop Adventures comprises several courses of ziplines and ropes courses. You can choose between 3 skill levels. My parents stuck to the easiest, and maybe one medium level course and they LOVED it. The older kids had a blast on the black diamond courses. I got a bit shakey on the black diamond I tried – but I did it. It’s not for the faint in spirit or strength!
Don’t let winter time weather deter you from experiencing this amazing outdoor adventure. We layered and wore gloves and not one of us was cold or wet. I must say, experiencing Treetop Adventures in the snow was absolutely magical. It was like nothing you’ve experienced to be up in the snowcovered treetops – zipping from tree to tree with gorgeous views of Lake Tahoe.
We felt safe, and well taken care of by the skilled staff on hand. My dad had a little difficulty with his first landing, but a staff member was there to assist him and get him safely onto the platform. We all had a great sense of accomplishment with the completion of each course. I loved seeing my little 7 yr old having such a great time with her 9 yr old cousin. The kids all kinda of paired up with a cousin or two who shared their skill level and off they went.
I can’t wait to take the family again during the warmer weather and spend time at the lake, on bikes, hiking and zipping through the trees, and staying with Lake Tahoe Accommodations again!
