In our house, Lucy, our Dorkie (Dachshund/Yorkie mix) is just part of the family. Lucy gets excited when the kids get home from school, she hugs me when I return from trips, and she always has to be in whatever room we’re in. We sure love our little dog, and love to spoil her when we can. Because we love the holidays so much as a family, we don’t want to leave Lucy out of the fun, and the gift giving! We’d like to show you how to pamper your pup with a dog stocking. After all, the stockings are the most fun – it’s several gifts in one!
The best part about making up a dog stocking is that you can purchase everything you need while you’re at Walmart, doing your regular shopping! When my daughter and I were getting groceries, we just couldn’t pass up some of these dog treats and toys in the dog treat aisle, and we know Lucy will love them! Dogs are the best when it comes to unconditional love, so why don’t we use the holidays (and every day) to return that love?!
You can, of course, pick up a stocking at Walmart, which is super nice. I actually have coordinating stockings for everyone in our family, and Lucy is included in that. Make sure you get a stocking big enough for a good amount of goodies to fit inside.
Because the value is so great, we picked up a big box of Milk-Bone Flavor Snacks. They have the same great teeth cleaning and vitamin-enriched goodness of Milk-Bone Original biscuits, and come in five delicious flavors your dog will love. The big box won’t fit in the stocking, but it’s the perfect thing to rest your dog’s stocking against, for easy access!
Lucy loves Pup-Peroni Original Beef Flavor dog snacks so we snagged a nice-sized bag that should last her a while. I love the fact that real beef is the #1 ingredient, and Lucy can smell it too. She was sniffing out the bag so hard when I got home from the store. I’ll admit I didn’t make her wait before I opened up the bag and snuck her a treat. She was so good while I was photographing all of her yummies so I couldn’t resist!
With the big bag of Pup-Peroni Original Beef Flavor dog snacks, you’ll need some smaller items to stuff down in the stocking. Walmart has a wide variety of toys, so pick some out that you know your dog will like. My dog isn’t a big chewer and doesn’t play fetch, so we kept it simple with a crinkly animal of sorts. It’s a good space filler, it’s cute and the yummy treats get all the focus – which my dog will especially love!
If your dog doesn’t already have a collar and/or leash of their own, now is the perfect time to get one added to their stocking!
For some smaller treats that will tuck down nicely in the stocking, the small bags of Canine Carry Outs are perfect! I picked up the Canine Carry Outs Bacon Flavor chewy snacks because who doesn’t love bacon? Lucy sure does! They’re made with real bacon, and the bag is the perfect size for taking on-the-go! You can also feel good knowing these are made in the USA!
Make sure your pup knows this stocking belongs to them and watch them and the family get excited when they get to open up all their goodies! They deserve it, and so do you!
