Tips for a Smooth Baby Bedtime Routine

I have been compensated by JOHNSON’S® Baby for this post; however, I am sharing my own thoughts. All opinions are my own.

Tips for a Smooth Baby Bedtime Routine

I no longer have a baby in my home and there are days when I long for that baby bedtime routine with lots of snuggles. Not only was it a comfort to my infant, but for some reason it soothed the busy mommy in me and prepared me for a peaceful evening and bedtime, as well. JOHNSON’S® gets it and has just the right products to make bedtime for your infant a pleasant, pleasing experience. Now, I just wish there was a way to adapt that for a house full of teens! It’s fun to watch cousins, sisters and sister-in-laws using the same products I’ve always loved for my babies and our bedtime routine.

The best part about JOHNSON’S® products is they’re all available at your nearest Walmart –  no need to chase around town to find what you need. Get all your baby needs and household needs taken care of on your one stop shopping trip, which eases the stress on busy moms.

Because lavender is known to be soothing, I love JOHNSON’S® Baby products that have lavender in them. For my children who have sensitive skin I was drawn to JOHNSON’S® AVEENO® products for baby. My favorite is the AVEENO® Baby Bathtime Solutions which is everything you need for baby’s bath. My cousin just had baby Quinn, a few months ago, and she’s using JOHNSON’S® BEDTIME® baby bath and calming lavender baby shampoo. I usually bathed my babies just before bed to ensure we had that special bonding time and to get them used to the routine that prepared them for a peaceful bedtime experience. Nothing soothes a baby quicker than a warm bath.

Studies have shown that the sooner you establish a bedtime routine, the better. As early as 6 – 8 weeks is not too young to get started. Once you start to follow a set pattern, both you and baby will appreciate the consistency. The bedtime ritual is just as good for parents as for baby. Using JOHNSON’S® baby products benefits both parent and baby. My favorites are the AVEENO Baby Wash & Shampoo, the baby bedtime® baby lotion, and of course, Stress Relief Body Wash for mom. AVEENO products are made with natural oatmeal which moisturizes tender skin and helps to alleviate dryness. Of course, you can’t beat the JOHNSON’S® calming lavender baby shampoo. When you have older siblings, it’s great to get them involved in the bedtime routine, and in helping baby establish a routine. It’s great for bonding, teaching them to help, and it can be a part of their own bedtime routine.

If you know an expectant mother, a gift pack of JOHNSON’S® baby products would be the perfect gift for her and baby. You might even include a little card with a recommended bedtime routine printed on it. Here is what I found to be the most successful baby bedtime routine when I had an infant – maybe I need to reestablish this with my 3rd grader, preteens and teen:

  • playing a quiet game or spend some quality fun time
  • giving your baby a soothing bath, using quality products like JOHNSON’S® BEDTIME® baby bath for baby
  • change baby into comfy pajamas.
  • read baby a bedtime story.
  • sing a lullaby.
  • give your baby a gentle massage.
  • a kiss goodnight and lights out.
  • as baby gets older be sure to make trips to the potty and fill a water bottle for nearby

Remember you can find all the Johnson and Johnson products you need for both you and baby at your nearby Walmart. Or, you can even order online from Walmart.
