With comfortable accommodations already arranged in Monterey, it’s time to check out those Cannery Row attractions. Cannery Row is one street of historic waterfront in Monterey Bay. In addition to ocean front hotels, you can find boutique shopping, fine art galleries, wine tasting, outdoor recreational activities and many fabulous dining options, all within walking distance and just steps to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
I have visited Cannery Row numerous times, and had taken my kids to the aquarium, but little did I know, there is so much more to do with the family! It is amazing how busy one street can keep you. Allow me to shed some light on my favorite attractions that Cannery Row has to offer.
Adventures by the Sea – Whether you want to bike, paddle board, or kayak along the bay, Adventures by the Sea has the option for you. One of these days I will try paddle boarding, but for this trip I opted for a two-man bicycle. Julie from A Cork, Fork, & Passport and I had a blast navigating the Monterey Recreational Trail. This could be walked too, and you’ll still have a pleasant time. We captured great views, stopped for ice cream, and seriously laughed a ton.
Mirror Maze, Blacklight Mini Golf and Lazer Challenge – First let me say, what a HOOT!! Kids or no kids, this was so much fun. You should have seen our small group of grown women crashing into mirrors and trying to climb under and over lazers.
Bead crafts at Bella Beads and magic at Zucchini’s Tricks n’ Things – We didn’t get the chance to try these out, but for a slower-paced activity, these shops could be a lot of fun.
Ghirardelli Ice Cream indulgence – You’ve got to take time to stop and enjoy an ice cream sundae on the Ghirardelli balcony, overlooking the bay. Delish, and relaxing!
I don’t recall the name of the store, but we also stopped in for olive oil and balsamic vinegar tasting, and it was so yummy! I wish the oils were local, but very good nonetheless. As you can see, there are many options to keep you busy while in Monterey – just on Cannery Row alone.
