I’m a believer in living life to the fullest, and taking those once-in-a-lifetime opportunities whenever we can. I had such an opportunity this past week when I got to attend the Finding Dory World Premiere and red carpet. In this instance, we had a blue carpet to stroll down, which was very fitting for the beginning of my undersea adventure. With the theatrical release on June 17th, I get to share my Finding Dory movie review and red carpet experience.
The Finding Dory world premiere took place at the El Capitan theater on Hollywood Blvd. For added excitement, I got to attend the after party right there where they closed down the street for a night full of fun and celebration.
I arrived on the “blue” carpet just before Ellen and Portia, so the timing was perfect for capturing some shots of my own. Walking the carpet along with the celebrities, and being on the inside of the barricades is quite a treat. The carpet is the glorified way of getting to the movie theater, and I’ll take it!
Before I get to my movie review, I thought I’d share a bit about the after party. As soon as the movie was over, we exited the theater to Hollywood Blvd, where games, food, and a band were all set up. To appease the kids and kids at heart was a giant blow-up slide and obstacle course. If only I wasn’t in a dress and heels, I would have been all over that!
For entertainment purposes we had live music, giant bubble blowers, green screen fun, and plenty of hands-on activities for the kids in attendance. There was even a trailer with touch pools, to touch and feel some sea creatures.
Of course, we walked and participated in some of the night’s activities, but we also got to people watch, schmooze with the stars if we were brave enough, and just sit back and take in a small taste of the high life. An amazing experience to be sure.
Finding Nemo fans have been waiting for the sequel for 13 long years, and I can assure you it was well worth the wait. Finding Dory is full of heart and humor, without a shortage of action. I simply loved the film and I am confident in saying I would still feel that way if I was sitting in my small-town theater watching Finding Dory.
Follow Dory as she hunts for her long lost family, with the help of new and old friends, and occasional flashbacks. Young Dory has a magical way about her that I know you’ll just fall in love with. Finding Dory is for everyone in the family! I laughed several times throughout the film, and at one point, I laughed harder than I think I’ve ever laughed in a Disney movie. I don’t want to give the scene away because it’s pretty dang awesome!
Along with beloved characters from Finding Nemo are new characters that only add to the entire show. Hank (Ed O’Neill), the mimic octopus is an ornery old fella with a soft spot, and just can’t shake Dory. He quickly became a new favorite for me. I wish I could tell you everything I loved about the movie, but I don’t want to spoil a thing. You have to see it, and if you love Pixar, you won’t regret it!
Keep checking in every day this week because I will have more info on all things Finding Dory, including cast interviews!
Be sure to see FINDING DORY in US theatres on June 17, 2016
