The Best Holiday Ham with Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 6-8 lb bone-in ham
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups SpriteⓇ
  • 1 Tbs whole grain mustard
  • 1 can pineapple tidbits
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
Sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1 Tbs whole grain mustard
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • dash of salt and pepper
  • 1/2 cup whipping cream

Method
 

  1. Spread brown sugar in the bottom of a large slow cooker. Top with the ham.
  2. Pour SpriteⓇ, mustard and pineapple (juice included) and vinegar over the top of the ham.
  3. Cook on low for 4 and a half hours.
  4. During the last half hour of cooking, prepare sauce.
  5. In a medium saucepan, add egg, vinegar, water, mustard, honey and salt and pepper.
  6. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until sauce thickens. Turn heat off and cover with a lid. Cool to room temperature.
  7. Whip cream with an electric mixer and fold into cooled sauce. Serve with ham!

Notes

A little sauce goes a long way, and also makes for excellent leftover ham sandwiches.
