Okay, I hope none of you are upset with me, but I decided to do something a little different with this week’s Pinterest Challenge. The big vote was on the Easter Eggs, inspired by The “Boutique” Girls, and pictured below: Because Easter is still a ways away, I decided to do something in time for Valentine’s Day. I know it’s past for you, but maybe it will give you some ideas for next year! Make sure you are following me on Pinterest too.
I took the Eggs and turned them into a HEART! Same project, same idea, just different outcome! I LOVE how it turned out!!
Blow up a balloon to whatever size you would like. Because of Valentine’s Day, I hunted down heart shape latex balloons.
Roll the balloon in liquid starch. Michaels didn’t have liquid starch, but they gave me this “Stiffy” Fabric stiffener, which worked just as well. Because of the heart shaped balloon not rolling in the stiffener as well as a balloon would, I kind of painted it on. Then begin wrapping the string around the balloon, in every which direction. There is no right or wrong to this part. Being a heart, it is a little more difficult to cover the tops of the heart, but it turned out better than I thought it would. When you are finished wrapping the balloon with string, tuck loose ends in and give the balloon another coat of starch. Cover it well so it will harden.
Then place the balloon on two glasses and let it dry over night. When balloon is completely dry, pop it and pull the broken pieces out. Voila! You can do what you’d like with it, but I thought it would be cute to pull some ribbon through it and hang it. Can’t wait to create my eggs for Easter!
Now I need you all to leave a comment on this blog post with a recommendation/nomination for my next project or recipe. It can be anything on Pinterest – just be sure to include a link to the pin. The more nominations, the more we have to vote on. Vote will be held on Friday!
Turned out great! I am on the lookout for next weeks challenge!
Cute! I wonder if they have shamrock shaped balloons. I don’t have many decorations for St. Patrick’s Day. Looking forward to next week’s challenge. 🙂
Turned out cute! I like how you hung it from your kitchen light.
This is a cute St. Patrick’s Day wreath.

I really liked this little wall cabinet/server/potting bench/whatever.
I have been searching since last night, and can’t find anything! I will give it another try.
Thanks for your efforts Carrie! And just so you know, you don’t have to find something on my baords, it can be anywhere.
I turned to Google after pinterest utterly failed me today, and found something to pin! I might do this one this weekend too, with smaller ones for the kids!
