If you have a toddler, then you have likely been introduced the Dinosaur Train! It is such a cute show with great messages. PBS’s T-Rex’s Dinosaur Train is all about a little T-Rex dinosaur born among several pterodactyls. In each episode he and members of his family are taken around the prehistoric dinosaur ages of time to learn about dinosaurs like him, his ancestors, and other interesting dinosaur species. There are time tunnels that take this family to difference ages of time. The little dinosaur comes up with a hypothesis to be tested in every episode.
Dinosaur Train: T-Rex Tales was just released on dvd in November. It is an excellent video for children who may be having trouble fitting into his or her family or their other surroundings. T-Rex Tales teaches that it is okay to be unique, but also that you can find commonalities among all nationalities or personalities. Dinosaur Train also encourages kids to be critical thinkers and to try to figure out why the world is the way it is. These are some pretty deep messages and lessons input into an adorable, fun kids’ show! Even my oldest, who is 8, gets caught up in the show and is fully entertained. I can always trust that Dinosaur Train will be wholesome for my kids, which is a definitely plus these days!
Seriously – aside from Sprouts, I don’t think there is network other than PBS that I care for my kids to watch without parental supervision. Too many kids’ shows these days promote behaviors that I am not a fan of, and don’t want my kids to exhibit. I believe kids often pick up behaviors from television shows, so I would much rather my kids to pick up behaviors from clean shows like Dinosaur Train, and many other PBS shows!
In addition to the wonderful and wholesome shows that PBS shows, I love to get online with my kids (they LOVE it too) and play the games on the PBS website. I often use PBS game time as a reward for completed tasks and good behavior.
The Dinosaur Train: T-Rex Tales is actually on sale on Amazon for $9.49.
One Clever Housewife reader will get to win a copy of the dvd, Dinosaur Train: T-Rex Tales. The giveaway will end at 11:59pm on 1/20/12. Fill out the rafflecopter form below, to enter.
