Tinker Bell Cake

Tinker Bell Cake

Here it is – the Tinker Bell Cake that I made for Little Girl’s 3rd birthday! I can’t believe my baby is 3!!!! I believe this was my third time using fondant, so I am still very much an amateur. I’m trying not to let it scare me, and just dive right in. One of these days I would like to get more cake decorating tools, to help me in my endeavors. I have asked the husband for cake decorating supplies for every holiday the past couple of years. He truly tries, but ends up gifting me something like a Baby Cakes Cupcake Maker. C’est la vie. One of these days we’ll pick it out together.
I was hoping to get better pictures in the daylight today, since I finished the cake up late last night, but the bow is cracking today. :-/ I am grateful I thought to take one last night though! Brielle was so excited to see her cake this morning, when she woke up. She is in LOVE with Tinker Bell!

I would love for you to leave comments on some of your fondant successes and perhaps, failures. Later today, I will be posting the BIG Pinterest Challenge that I have been working on the past few weeks, for Little Girl’s birthday.

I haven’t used fondant ever but my mom used to make cakes and stuff with fondant all the time. One of the things she did was keep her fingers moist when working with it. When she was done she had this big sheet cake sized Tupperware carrying container she put it in so it wouldn’t dry out. I don’t know if that helps but i think the cake came out awesome.

(The dolls leg poses are kinda funny though. Can’t help how people who make toys make them though)

Thank you for the tip Jontai! I agree that the doll’s legs were hilarious! I kept playing with them to try to get them to be more modest, but it wasn’t happening! lol One of them looks like she’s about to give birth!

I did something similar for my little girls 3rd birthday too! I used the same fairies and got them at a great price (due to them not having a price on them). I frosted the cake with butter cream though, Fondant and I do NOT get along haha! You did a fabulous job though! Kudos!

I purchased pre-made fondant this time, just because it was a very busy weekend. It helped make things go much easier.

Happy Birthday to your little girl, what a fun age!! The cake looks awesome, perfect for a tiny Tinker Bell fan, and I’m sure your 3-year-old didn’t even notice the dolls’ poses. Hope you all had a great day!
