Giveaway: Melissa & Doug Speck Seahorse Sand Ice Cream Set

My mom has had a sand and water table on her patio for a number of years, which is a great hit for the grandkids. She gets a new bag of fresh sand every summer and the kids spend hours entertaining themselves at the sand table. My dad grumbles every year about hauling the new bag of sand for her, but he gives in, because he knows it gives her pleasure to see the grandkid’s imaginations at play. She usually has the odd assortment of sand toys, and the kids take things from her kitchen, as well.

This year, I gave my mom a Melissa & Doug Speck Seahorse Sand Ice Cream Set. She tells me the kids love it! The set comes with a sturdy bucket, which is great for them to carry water from the nearby spigot – of course water is necessary to make the sand the perfect consistency for scooping make believe ice cream. The set also includes a lid for the bucket with a sea shell mold, 2 ice cream scoops, 2 ice cream cones, and a cup with screw on lid with holes for shaking out sand (aka candy sprinkles). Two visiting grandchildren spent a good two hours at the sand table creating ice cream concoctions.

Melissa & Doug toys have a reputation of high quality, and these sand toys don’t disappoint. They’re made of sturdy, colorful molded plastic which should last through several summertimes. The sea horse motif is very cute, and the seahorse motif ice cream scoop handles are perfect for little hands to grip. It’s tempting to take a trip to the beach, just so the kiddles can have fun in the sand with the Ice Cream Set.
