American Cancer Society (ACS) Making Strides Walks
October has officially hit us and that means Breast Cancer Awareness Month is upon us. As we crept closer to October, I started writing a couple of articles on breast cancer and how it has impacted me, through a good friend’s life, and her battle with the terrible disease. Now I believe it is up to all of us to bring awareness to the disease, so that we can hopefully one day have a cure!
Whether we have been personally affected by breast cancer, or indirectly, we have all been touched by a story about breast cancer. American Cancer Society (ACS) is working hard to fight breast cancer with their Making Strides initiative. In case you haven’t heard of the Making Strides initiative, or you want to better understand it, it is striving to support those that have been affected, empower others, and cheer on survivors, all while fighting to end the disease.
There are Making Strides Walks taking place all over the nation. The one in my area took place in August, but you can do a search to find out where you can participate in the Making Strides Walks. You can start a team, join a team, or walk as an individual in one of their 3-5 mile events. There are online tools you can take advantage of to get your friends and family excited about the event with you. Get excited, and let’s take some action where we can! We’ve got to beat this!
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is the American Cancer Society’s nationwide series of walking events to raise funds and awareness to end breast cancer.
