Simple Wholesome Breakfast with Kellogg’s “Start Simple, Start Right” Initiative

Simple Wholesome Breakfast with Kellogg’s “Start Simple, Start Right” Initiative

I believe that cereal is the most common breakfast in my household, as well as many other households. Between healthy cereals and the milk it is served with, my kids can start their day with grains (fiber), protein, and calcium in their milk. Cereal is quick and easy and my kids love it. Mornings can be so crazy that I don’t often take the time to make a big breakfast and cereal becomes our go-to meal. Then once or twice a week I will make up something more like eggs or german pancakes. Cereal is one of those items that I stock up on when I find a great sale. I buy several boxes and then don’t shop cereal for a few months. This works fantastically because many cereals don’t expire for about a year after purchasing them. I am somewhat particular about what kinds of cereals I will let me kids eat because I don’t like them to go for the “sugar cereal”. I will usually have one or two boxes of sugar cereal tucked away for a special occasion, or if the mood strikes me right. Most days my  kids will go for cereals such as Rice Krispies (one of their favorites). I try to look at cereal labels to make sure that what my kids are consuming contains some amount of fiber and even protein. I prefer simple, wholesome ingredients when possible.

In the initiative they also want moms to feel good about the cereals they are choosing, by offering simple, wholesome ingredients. You might find the “Seed to Spoon” approach that Kellogg’s takes to make their cereals, fascinating.

For fun, I even put my kids’ tastes to the test, by serving them a bowl of the Gluten Free Rice Krispies versus the regular Rice Krispies, and they didn’t even notice a difference! One bowl was slightly darker than the other, but they surely didn’t complain or eat any less!

“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Kellogg’s. I received sample products to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.”

That’s great to have gluten free options from a main stream manufacturer!
