Grasing’s Restaurant in Carmel by the Sea
Lunch is probably the meal I struggle with most in the day. For breakfast, there are so many tasty things you can cook up quickly, and be completely satisfied. There are also a lot of grab and go options for breakfast. For dinner, I typically plan on cooking so my kids and I can have a well balanced home cooked meal. I am able to plan throughout the day (when I do it) and be set to go. It’s just part of our schedule. Lunch however, is a challenge. I often get bored with my lunch options at home, and don’t want to have to clean up after a third meal, so I end up eating out. All too often I end up at fast food, and feeling completely guilty and less than satisfied because the food was unhealthy and not of great quality. I can tell you without a doubt that I absolutely did not have this feeling of unsatisfaction after eating at Grasing’s in Carmel by the Sea. I think that my family and I were served with one of the best lunches I have ever had.
Aside from the fantastic quality and taste in our meal at Grasing’s, the atmosphere was lovely. I loved the fact that Grasing’s is a family owned restaurant where I happened to get to meet one of the Grasing’s themselves. Upon arrival, I was a little nervous that the restaurant was going to be too fancy for my kids to handle, but it worked out great. I love that my kids got to experience a nice restaurant with table linens and cloth napkins, while experiencing delicious food. It was a weekday, and we had our own little part of the restaurant so I didn’t have to worry as much about the kids being too loud.
The menu was easy to read, and understand, and everyone was able to pick something that they were comfortable ordering.
We started off with an appetizer of House-Made Onion Rings served with aged balsamic ketchup. YUM! My oldest son and I consider ourselves onion ring connoiseurs and Grasing’s definitely passed the test. I hadn’t ever tried balsamic ketchup and we were pleasantly surprised.
The kids ordered a couple of things and shared. They ordered the Chicken Fettuccine, which I thought tasted fantastic. I loved all of the fresh tasting cheese and oven dried tomatoes. Because the kids aren’t a big fan of spinach, they simply pushed it to the side and enjoyed the rest of the dish. Crazy kids!
The other dish my kids ordered was the Black Angus Bistro Burger. Of course I had to sneak a taste! This burger was made from some of the freshest ingredients: bacon, avocado, house-made sauce and cheddar cheese. No complaints from the kids! They did order the avocado on the side, just in case they changed their mind about adding it. Burgers and Sandwiches are served with fries, which were also delicious.
I ordered the Chicken Club, pictured at the top of the post, and I fell in love! Made of chicken, avocado, tomato, smoked bacon, cheddar and garlic aioli, you can’t go wrong! Aside from tasting so great, it was also beautiful to look at.
The hubs ordered a rack of ribs and a salad. Can’t go wrong there. Needless to say, we were fed very well and had enough leftovers for an entire other meal! Delicious!
I was provided a comped meal for review purposes. All opinions expressed are my own.
