At Home Movie Nights with Pop Secret Popcorn

by Emily Buys 5 Comments

I think you all know by now that I am a lover of movies. I love a variety of genres and I love being swept away in someone else’s story for a couple of hours. While I love heading out to the movie theater, it can get quite expensive. If my husband and I go to the movies for date night, then there is the high cost of the movie ticket, plus the babysitter! I think it’s important to get out and there aren’t many other things to do in our small town, so we do it anyway. Then if there is a family friendly movie we want to see, we’ve got 6 movie tickets to purchase! This is when I say let’s have a movie night at home! We can get in our comfy clothes, pop some popcorn, and curl up on the couch with a blanket. You can’t exactly snuggle at the movie theater!

pop secretMy oldest son has FINALLY found a book series that he enjoys reading. It was like pulling teeth to get the kid to read. He was toward the top of his class, but he just didn’t enjoy reading. Just a week ago, he discovered that he actually does like the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. He plowed right through that first book, so now we just need to hunt down the rest. While grocery shopping on Friday, we decided to check out the Redbox, to see if they had any movies to go along with my son’s recent books. Sure enough we found a movie that everyone could be happy with, and made my son excited for his next book. We picked it up and had a family movie night! I let the kids get in their jammies, grab a blanket, and we popped some popcorn. Popcorn is a definite must-have for our at-home movie nights. Blankies are another must-have for me! My husband would tell you that Red Vines are his MUST-HAVE!!

What are your must-have at home movie night comforts?

At Pop Secret, we love movies as much as you love movies. So we’re on a mission to make movie watching and popcorn even more social and fun. We’re sharing a bunch of apps, tools, and fun partnerships with everyone over at our hub, Pop Secret Labs.  Keep checking back to try ‘em all out and give us feedback. The more you get involved, the better all of our movie experiences will be. See you there!

Movie night for us is all about me getting a break from the kitchen. So, usually pizza is in order, definitely popcorn and maybe ice cream sandwiches or fresh baked cookies!

I love going to the morning movies because it’s discounted. I really prefer to watch movies at home.
