As part of a sponsored post for Collective Bias® I shopped for Arm & Hammer Spinbrush toothbrushes and other care package items to donate to a local foster care facility. Champions for Kids and Spinbrush have teamed up to encourage others to “Spin Into Action” by helping mobilize millions of children in donating toothbrushes and other children’s items to a local hospital, shelter, or foster care facility. There are millions of children all over the world who don’t have some of the basic necessities to take care of their personal needs. I love finding ways for my kids and I to give back with a simple service project, so I love these campaigns!
I decided to join the cause by shopping at Walmart for the super cool Arm & Hammer Spinbrush Tooth Tunes musical toothbrushes and other care package items. These new toothbrushes are a lot fun and help kids get their teeth ultra clean because they play a hit song for the length of time that one should brush their teeth. I am all about combining fun with any daily chore, and music sure helps! If you print the $2 coupon on the Spinbrush site, it makes the Tooth Tunes toothbrushes that much more affordable!
In addition to picking up toothbrushes, I shopped around for several puzzles, games, and toys that I thought these children in need might be able to benefit from. If they can’t get their basic needs taken care of without effort, then they likely don’t have the means for the extra fun stuff. Because I can only do so much on my own, I enlisted some family and friends to help in my efforts. I put a plea out on facebook for friends and family to donate toothbrushes in exchange for a popsicle. I took my cute little assistant to the doors of friends and family to hand them a popsicle, in exchange for items that could help us.
A couple of people, including my mom, donated handfuls of toothbrushes while some friends donated books and other little items. I love when we can come together for a greater cause! The day I was collecting items, I happened to have an appointment with my dentist Dr Craig Reading, whom happens to be a close family friend.
I love that my dentist was kind enough to donate a bag of children’s toothbrushes! My point here is this. We can all jump in and do some good with just a little effort. You just have to be bold enough to ask. The worst people can say is no, I can’t donate. People were excited to have a cause to donate to, and with me doing the picking up of said items, it made it that much easier for people to give.
After doing some calling around town I found the perfect cause and facility that could benefit from these toiletry items and several toys and games that I collected. A local Foster Care Facility was more than happy to take the items off my hands. I even learned a bit about this large home in my area that helps care for these children. They have young men transitioning into adulthood, whom live with them, but they also use the facility as a meeting grounds for the children and birth parents to facilitate their visitations. Toys and games are a great way for these families to reconnect with one another, so I’m so happy that they will be able to use these items.
The woman I gave the items to also said that they often receive children in the middle of the night after a drug raid. These young ones show up with nothing but their pajamas, so these toothbrushes will definitely be of a great help!
As with all of the fantastic Champions for Kids campaigns I take part of, I want to encourage YOU to Spin Into Action and find a local hospital, shelter, or foster care facility that could use your help.

What a great idea to ask your dentist for donations!
