Did you know that July is national Family Reunion month? I did not, but I think that it makes sense! Summer is a great time to travel to see family or travel with family on a vacation. I love traveling, but am always cautious of traveling more then a few hours from home as my 21 month old daughter is not the biggest fan of sitting in the car.

However I have recently heard from a few different friends that Amtrack is THE WAY to travel, especially with kids. From what I have heard, it is much more relaxing then flying or driving and a lot easier on the kids. While traveling on an Amtrack train you and the kids can easily get up and move around the train to take a bathroom break, stretch your legs or to visit the dinning car where you can grab a snack and use one of the tables to play board games and enjoy time together. It seems like traveling by Amtrack would make the journey just as much fun as the destination!

To add even more excitement to a family trip, Amtrack has partnered with Jim Henson’s Pajanimals for a special summertime promotion! As part of the promotion Amtrack will be holding a special “Pack Your Pajanimals Sweepstakes” as well as giving young passengers free Pajanimals activity books and dining car placemats.

If you are not familiar with the Pajanimals, they are the one of the newest members of the Jim Henson family. These cute, fuzzy puppets named Cowbella, Apollo, Sweet Pea-Sue and Squacky are perfect for young children, because through their little adventures they learn basic social skills and answers to problems that face preschoolers. The Pajanimals airs daily on Sprout or Saturdays on NBC, for you and your preschooler to enjoy together.

In the episode that I watched, “Happy Birthday Sweet Pea Sue” included on their new “Pajama Party” DVD (retailing for 9.99) Sweet Pea Sue is having a birthday party. However when her party doesn’t go quite as planned, Sweet Pea Sue gets upset. But with a little help from her fellow Pajanimals she learns the real meaning of birthdays… And friendship!

This was my first time watching the Pajanimals, but I am already in love with these adorable little guys! Their vibrant colors, fun songs and engaging personalities remind me so much of the Jim Henson characters that I grew up with as a child. The Pajanimals are so bright and fun that they are sure to make any preschooler’s day (or Amtrack trip) happier!
