“I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Kohl’s. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.”
IT’S BACK-TO-SCHOOL TIME!!!! In fact, today was our first day of school. I’m not sure who was more nervous – me, or the kids. Actually, I think it was me. My little guys can have a lot of anxiety, and being put in new situations can sometimes be stressful. The older they get, the easier it is becoming, but I can still see angst in their body language, when it comes to certain things.
To help my kids with their first day of school jitters, I believe they need to like what they are wearing because it seems to help build their confidence. Believe you me, this does not mean I will go out and spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars on name brand clothing because it’s the only thing that will cut it. Not at all. For us, it just means that I let my kids help pick out their first day of school clothes, because I want them to feel good in them.
When it comes to back-to-school shopping, I also like to stretch my dollars and get the most bang for my buck. I scored big when I shopped at Kohl’s this year for my twins. The big guy already had most of his school clothes purchased, so it was a shopping spree for my 3rd graders.
As you can see, my boys had a blast putting on a fashion show for me. They were such a hoot! They both gave me a serious shot, a bum shot, and a goofy shot. They nailed it don’t you think?
Now let me give you a rundown of how I like to shop Kohl’s, to score the best deals.
I went in with a $100 gift card, to get what I could in the way of back-to-school items for my boys. Kohl’s really could be a one-stop-shop if you need it to be. They have undies, socks, shoes, backpacks, clothes, etc. I got just what we needed and here is how it went down:
For $100 I got:
- 2 pairs of boys jeans
- 2 Lego Chima t-shirts
- 2 boys polo shirts
- 2 matching boys shorts
- 2 womens tops (found on clearance, thank you very much)
I was a few dollars over $100, but received $5 off by using a mobile coupon that I got by connecting to the store’s wifi. Then because I spent $100, I received $20 in Kohl’s Cash, to use on a future date.
Now get this….
I went back to Kohl’s the next week, to use my $20 in Kohl’s Cash. Only this time, I had also received a $10 promotional gift card in the mail, as well as a 15% off coupon! That gave me another $30 to spend, plus a 15% discount. So here is what I got:
- womens green knee-length dress, marked down from $85
- womens long sleeve tee
- 3 pairs of earrings
After coupons and discounts, I spent a whopping $3.19 out of pocket!!
Now I want to hear about your back-to-school finds and deals!

That is awesome! I love shopping at Kohl’s. It is my nine year old daughter’s favorite store. I always seem to get a good bang for my buck there. Very cute outfits by the way.
