Travel and the California coast are two loves in my life. Pair those things with a shiny new car with fuel efficiency and style, and you’ve got one happy momma! I spent this past weekend with some fun bloggers, driving from San Francisco to Pebble Beach, where we stayed in the most amazing hotel I have ever encountered! If one is going to do that drive and make it count for something, then the coast is the way to go; and why not do it in a new Ford C-MAX Hybrid? Making this drive with The Mom Reviews, and our cute little red car was definitely a highlight of my trip.
The C-MAX is the first-ever hybrid-only vehicle line from Ford in North America. The C-MAX comes in two varieties: the C-MAX Hybrid and the C-MAX Energi Plug-in Hybrid. Both offer the sporty style and performance of a Ford vehicle with the added benefit of leaving a smaller carbon footprint. The Mom Reviews and I took turns driving the hybrid, and with all of it’s buttons there was a bit of a learning curve. Beyond figuring out all of the different settings we could choose from, and the buttons, this was one smooth ride! A funny thing to me was that after starting the car, you couldn’t hear a thing so I would wonder if the car had really started. Luckily there is a picture on the dash to let you know that the car has in fact started.
For a compact car, I was amazed at how much room there was in the trunk of the C-MAX Hybrid. We were both able to stand our suitcases upright, and could have fit several bags of groceries in addition to our luggage. For extra space, the back seats can lay down if needed. An added bonus is the privacy screen that you can pull over the top of your things, so people looking in the back window don’t see what you’ve got! For me, storage space is a must because I’m always toting something around; whether it’s camp chairs for soccer games, a stroller, or many bags of groceries! The C-MAX Hybrid passed that test!
Now what about the mpg and and efficiency? The C-MAX Hybrid boasts delivering 43 mpg combined and can travel up to 85 miles per hour in all all-electric mode. I got close to testing out the speeds, but didn’t quite make it to the 85 mpg. At least, not that I’m confessing to. Like I said before, smooth sailing down the California coast! In the dash, you are always able to see how many miles per gallon you are getting, and you will always know how efficiently you are driving. In one screen, you can have the car set to display a screen full of leaves. If you slam on the breaks, step on the gas pedal too hard, etc., then a leaf will fly away, notifying you that you aren’t being as efficient as you could. I can be a little competitive and took this as a challenge. I would get excited when my screen would continue to fill up with leaves, and of course upset when a leaf would fly away. Just added fun of driving the C-MAX Hybrid.
I loved driving through Half Moon Bay and seeing the many pumpkin farms, and even Christmas tree farms! We stopped at the first chance we could, when we spotted a beach and some surfers. Just gorgeous views! My favorite stop was when we saw this cute old lighthouse standing at the edge of the California coast. There are some views that just don’t get old looking at them!
The drive was amazing, the company was fantastic, and memories were made.
