For a very long time, The Little Mermaid was my favorite Disney movie. If I were to pin point what aspect of the movie I loved the most, I think it would be the music. I just love the songs! I have a piano book full of all of the movie songs from The Little Mermaid, and I will even admit that I would play and sing to the music when I was younger.

Having a daughter with long flowing red hair (not as red as Ariel’s though), we are big Ariel fans in this house. Until the 10/1 release of The Little Mermaid Diamond Edition on Blu-ray Combo Pack, my daughter hadn’t ever seen the movie all the way through! She knew who Ariel was, and would even say that she was her favorite princess, but she never saw the movie. While Ursula can be a bit frightening, she just loved the love story between Ariel and Prince Eric.

So what’s the difference with this new version of The Little Mermaid? For one thing, we finally get to ditch the VHS version! The diamond edition is The Little Mermaid spectacularly transformed for the first time on Blu-ray with digitally restored picture and brilliant high-definition sound! The sound quality is definitely so much better than any older versions you may have. Venture under the sea where Ariel, a free-spirited mermaid princess who longs to be part of the human world. After bravely striking a bargain with Ursula, a sneaky sea witch, Ariel embarks on the adventure of a lifetime. With Flounder and Sebastian at her side, Ariel will need all of her courage and determination to make things right in both her worlds.

    I actually LOVE Ursula and her song with Flotsam and Jetsam! I dressed up like her for Halloween one year.

    Normally I’m not that much into animated movies, but this is one I keep hearing about and as a result have always been interested in seeing. Would love to add it to my DVD collection! 🙂

    My favorite part is when she sing, Part of your world song. I remember me and my sisters always singing a long to that scene.

    My favorite part is “I have gadgets and gizmos of plenty… I’ve got whozits and whatzits galore… you want thingamabobs? I’ve got 20! But who cares… no big deal… I wannnnnnt more!!!!” I am Ariel obsessed and even named my daughter Aria… kinda close, right? DO NOT LET MY HUSBAND IN ON THIS!!! shhhh!

    I like when the little mermaid collects different things and does not know what they are used for. Like when she uses the fork and twirls her hair.

    My favorite scene is where she is singing while showing her treasure trove with the fork and other things.

    I like the scene when Sebastian is giving Ariel lessons in flirting….“You gotta bat your eyes like this.”

    My favorite is the end when they get married and ultimately the kiss the girl scene, I love that song! Still own my original cassette soundtrack!

    My favorite part is when Ariel first gets her legs and is on the beach and Scuttle is trying to make her act like a lady.

    I love where the chef gets Sebastian! 🙂 very funny. Also, I like where Ariel is in her secret hiding spot with Flounder and her treasures…and is singing…”Look at this stuff, isn’t this neat?”

    This was my favorite movie as a kid. I played the VHS so much, the tape ran out! It’s an amazing movie.

    I love this movie and this prize would make a wonderful gift for my dear friends daughters. My favorite parts are “Under the Sea” and the wedding scene.
