Off To See The Wizard with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Wizard of Oz

Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Wizard of Oz

Dorothy, The Yellow Brick Road, Wicked Witch of the West, Glinda, and all of the other beloved characters we know and love from The Wizard of Oz are coming to the big stage! The amazing Andrew Lloyd Webber has done it again by creating a new stage adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, and I can’t wait to see it in just a week and a half. Andrew Lloyd Webber is a British composer and impresario of musical theatre. He has wowed many with his brilliant shows and compositions such as: Evita, Phantom of the Opera, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and many more. I can say without a doubt that I am definitely a fan of his work. I could stay on Broadway all day, watching musical after musical, including Webber’s work.

Playing Dorothy is Danielle Wade, who was chosen by the Canadian public  through CBC TV’s reality show “Over The Rainbow.” Do you think she’ll have Toto with her on stage? I’m curious to see if there will be a pup of any sort. The Wizard of Oz is an
enchanting adaptation of the all-time classic, adapted and reconceived for the stage by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jeremy Sams.
Developed from the ever popular MGM screenplay, this new production contains all the beloved Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg songs from the Oscar®-winning movie score, all the favorite characters and iconic moments, plus a few surprises along the way, including new songs by Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
