Because I don’t currently have cable, my family and I often get our entertainment through Netflix and DVDs. I set up different profiles for each of the kids, so they can tailor their viewing preferences for themselves. I personally really like this because then we can “try” to keep more of the grown-up shows off their radar. Upon browsing Netflix and the newly added tv shows, my oldest discovered a show that he really enjoys: Gravity Falls. It took me a bit to warm up to the show, because of it’s slightly colorful humor. I decided that it’s really not all that bad and I don’t mind my older kids watching it. In fact, when the show is on, I find my eyes keep trailing over to see what crazy thing is going to happen next.
Just in time for Halloween, Gravity Falls: Six Strange Tales was released on DVD. The kids love taking their favorite tv shows on the road with us; it helps them feel less like they are trapped in a car for a long period of time. Among 6 strange tales, you will meet forest gnomes disguised as zombies, dig up a mysterious old journal filled with secrets and ciphers, and encounter spooky hijinks at the local condemned convenience store. You can enjoy the Holy Matri-gnome-y clip above, and check out The Man Cave on DVD. Perhaps my oldest likes these silly shows because the 12-year-old twins Dipper and Mabel Pines remind him of his own twin brothers. Or maybe it’s the silliness and supernatural shenanigans that always seem to be going on.
You can pick up the Disney channel show on DVD, on Amazon for just $14.99!
