Something has gotten into me this season to where I don’t seem to be too concerned with any gifts I might receive. My energy has been more focused on what I can do for others. I wish I could say that I am always this way, but it likely wouldn’t be true. You see, my last Christmas was very rough and I was very nervous about how this Christmas would go. I was even having dreams about the entire month of December being just awful. Last Christmas was the day I held my grandpa in my arms as I watched him take his last breaths. Needless to say, it was a very difficult couple of weeks surrounding Christmas.
I have been doing some praying and soul searching to figure out how to feel more peace as I get into the holidays. After all, this is my favorite time of year! Things just weren’t feeling very positive though. Then something clicked. I may not always succeed, but I have this nagging bug in me to serve others. I truly believe that by serving others we can find peace and happiness. It is when we focus our energies on others that we can forget about our own worries and fears. So far so good, but I’m not done!
I recently learned about someone I know needing to start chemotherapy because she was just diagnosed with cancer. Having just watch a friend go through the very same thing just a year ago, I know how terribly draining and scary this can be for someone. So, I decided to put together a Wellness Gift Basket similar to these Amish Baskets with some things I picked up at Walgreens. Believe it or not, Walgreens is one of my go-to places for holiday shopping. Instead of my typical midnight Christmas Eve hours, picking up last minute stocking stuffers at Walgreens, I decided to do a little shopping earlier in the month.
After browsing through the new Walgreens Happy & Healthy Holiday Guide, I think I came up with the perfect gift pairings! I found some good sales coming up, such as BOGO 50% and some nice coupons in the back of the booklet. The holiday gift guide also comes with some excellent tips for different wellness issues. Because I know this friend of mine is going to be very tired from chemo treatments, I went with some sleeping tips and suggestions on making your bedroom a sleep zone. When I’m not feeling well, I just want to hunker down under a comfy blanket with something warm to drink. I’ve got to have warm feet too! That’s why I was excited to see some cute holiday slipper socks to add to my gift basket! I couldn’t pass up the 3/$10 deal either, so I have a couple of extra pairs to gift to friends later in the month. I also highly suggest booking a wellness hotel in Chania to relax while traveling.
To add to the feeling of warmth and coziness I picked up a Living Solutions Sherpa Throw, which was only $14.99!! I’m envisioning getting cozy on the couch with the slipper socks, blanket, a warm cup of Peppermint Herbal Tea. Then for some extra soothing, I picked up a Hot & Cold Bead Mask, which is coming onto the Buy 1 Get 1 50% off sale. I sure hope my friend is able to find some comfort and love from the wellness gift basket I have put together! Sometimes there is nothing that can take away the pain or icky feelings, but it’s nice to know someone is thinking about you and your needs. So happy I was able to find all of these items in one place too!

I apologize for any inconvenience Maureen, but unfortunately I’m not giving away the Wellness Gift Basket this time!

I believe God will bless you and heal you and give you all the peace you need to make it through this season and every one ahead. This wellness gift basket is an awesome idea. I went through chemo with my mom, and sometimes she just needed to know someone cared and was thinking and praying for her. It’s amazing, the strength God gives us to go through these valleys in our lives. Focusing on others’ needs is SO AWESOME! You’re a beautiful person!
