FOOD, Glorious Foood! When I want a relaxing evening away from the kitchen, Mimi’s Cafe is typically at the top of my list. If only I had one just minutes from my house! The service is always impeccable for me, regardless of which location I visit, and the food is always so tasty! It certainly doesn’t hurt that they like to “butter me up” with rolls and carrot bread before my meal arrives. I find that between the food, the lighting and the well-spaced tables, the atmosphere is just great for a relaxing evening.
In November, I shared with you the newly revamped menu that Mimi’s had come out with. I am happy to report that I have been back to Mimi’s Cafe three times since I learned of the new French Cuisine, and each time my taste buds have been tickled with delight. During my last visit, I tried something new, which I didn’t try during the menu preview. I got the Poulet a l’Orange Crepes; Homemade crêpes filled with herbes de Provence roasted chicken and sautéed spinach in a traditional orange sauce. Being a huge fan of Chinese and French cuisine, this dish was a big hit with me. I felt like I was basically eating orange chicken in a crepe, but better! Such a fun and unique dish!
As if Mimi’s Cafe hasn’t been causing enough excitement, they have outdone themselves and delivered something new. As of January 20th, you can get the newly re-introduced Cafe Classics at Mimi’s Cafe! These are their most time-honored dishes, back and truly better than ever before. I can’t wait for my next visit when I can warm up to a plate of hearty meatloaf with creamy mashed potatoes and gravy. Classics never get old!
Among the menu “classics” that have been reintroduced to the Mimi’s Cafe menu are:
– Asian Chopped Salade, Roasted chicken breast, romaine lettuce, crisp cabbage, basil, cilantro, green onions, red & green bell peppers and mandarin oranges, tossed in sesame dressing with fried wontons and sesame seeds.
– Pot Roast – Slowly braised, tender beef roast in a rich gravy. Served with creamy mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
– Chicken Parmesan – Parmesan-crusted chicken breasts fried until golden, topped with spicy pomodoro sauce and melted mozzarella cheese. Served with fresh linguine.
– Meatloaf – A thick cut of our slow-baked meatloaf. Served with a rich gravy, creamy mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
– Fish & Chips – Battered cod fillets fried until crisp and golden. Served with French fries, creamy coleslaw and tartar sauce.
– Artichoke Chicken Penne – Roasted chicken breast, artichokes, cherry tomatoes and spinach sautéed in creamy pesto pomodoro sauce, tossed with penne pasta and topped with parmesan cheese.
Okay, maybe I’ll skip the meatloaf and go for that Artichoke Chicken Penne! How good does that sound? Then again, sometimes I’m just in the mood for a tasty basket of Fish & Chips! Okay, can you tell I’m hungry?
So what are you waiting for – head into Mimi’s Cafe and try one of their Classics or some of the new authentic French offerings such as Bouillabaisse, Coq Au Vin, and Brioche Croque Madame, as well as Mimi’s all-butter almond, chocolate and plain croissants, Mimi’s muffins, and other bakery items baked fresh in each restaurant every day!
