I love my car! Its nothing fancy, its getting up there in miles and years, but I love it! I think what I love the most about my car is that we have made so many memories in it. I bought my car shortly after getting engaged, almost 9 years ago, and it was the first major decision that my husband and I made together. Since then there have been many happy memories made in that car. We took it on our honeymoon, I drove that car to school everyday for my last semester of college, we drove both of our kids home from the hospital in that car, drove my son to his first day of kindergarten in my car and have taken her on road trips, vacations, camping trips, and countless everyday errands. I really just love my car. My husband, who doesn’t have the same emotional attachment to the car as I do, is wanting to trade her in for something newer and has told me that the next time a major repair comes up, we need to think about trading her in.
So to prevent that from happening (or at least prolong) I am making some healthy New Years Resolutions for my car. I am trying to be more consistent with oil changes, tune ups, and staying on top of minor problems before they become a major issue. As I am not a car mechanic, and just barely know how to check my own oil, I knew I would need a little help in accomplishing that.
Luckily I found a fantastic tool to help me with my goal, Zubie! Zubie is a key that gets inserted into your car which connects to the Zubie smartphone app. The key and app, powered by the Zubie on-board service, all work together to alert users of driving habits, engine and battery health, and car location.
I was able to take my own Zubie out for a test drive over the past few weeks, and I am happy to report that my car is a healthy and happy girl! Thanks to the diagnostic report that is available after every time I drive my car, I am able to find our immediately if a problem does occur. Zubie also let me know that I have a tendency to make hard brakes. I have a feeling that this may have contributed to a wheel and brake issue that my car had a little while ago. Thanks to the push notifications that I recieve from Zubie, I can now be more aware of that problem and prevent it from becoming a new issue for my car.
