We’ve made it to part 3 in my Baby Shower series! If you haven’t already, I highly suggest checking out last week’s post with easy DIY Baby Shower Decor Ideas. There you will find several quick and easy decorating ideas, but I have something to add to it this week! Doubling as a cute centerpiece and an excellent baby shower gift is the famous Baby Shower Diaper Cake! Putting one of these together is even easier than one would think. All you need are diapers (using this Huggies coupon of course), rubber bands and a wide ribbon. Then you can add travel size baby products to accessorize the cake and to make an even greater gift.

With the help of my brother and sister who were visiting a couple of weeks ago, we decided to top the diaper cake with an adorable duck made out of a yellow washcloth. Perfect touch for our “baby hatching” celebration!

To get started on your cake, begin rolling up your diapers and secure with a rubber band. Diaper size does not matter. You can make your cake as big or as small as you want, but I recommend creating three different size layers.

To create each layer place rolled diapers up against one another, forming a circle. When your circle is the size you want, stretch a large rubber band around the entire layer to secure.

Stack layers on top of one another, biggest to smallest.

For extra security, and to spruce the cake up, tie a wide ribbon around the middle of each diaper layer, covering up the rubber bands. You can tie the ribbon in a bow, or cut shorter and staple/glue ends together. It all depends on the look you are going for. I purchased this Take Along Pack of Johnson’s Baby Products to add to the cake. Tuck them in random places and secure with the ribbon.

Your cake topper can be anything you’d like to go along with your baby shower theme. Our theme includes a lot of ducks and chicks hatching, so we used a tutorial found on Youtube. For some added fun we used some confetti/Easter grass to act as a nest beneath the duck.

There you have it – a beautiful centerpiece and gift all in one! For more diaper cake inspiration and a video tutorial check out the Evite Diaper Cake page.
