Like most moms, I am passionate about keeping my family healthy, and a big part of that is making sure that they stay active. My kids are naturally pretty active, but still it can be hard to compete with the TV, computer and our iPhones when trying to get them to get outside to play.

Ibitz, a new series of movement trackers, targets this exact issue! An ibitz is a small device that can clip to your clothing to measure your movement throughout the day. You then sync it with the companion apps to see your progress and monitor your goals.

The unique thing about ibitz, however is that you can include the entire family in the fun! iBitz has a line of movement trackers just for kids called the “iBitz PowerKey” These are movement trackers that come in 7 fun colors for kids that they can wear to track their activity level throughout the day. The fun part about this is, there is a special accompanying app the “geopalz kids” app that turns fitness into a game. This fun app allows kids to sync their iBitz with the app to see their fitness progress. They then can even play games and go on space adventures, using the points that they earned through fitness activities. This is such a great way to reward and motivate kids as they work to meet their fitness goals.

Older kids and parents can join in the fun also, with the iBitz “Unity” and it’s accompanying app. This app allows users to track movement, see how many calories have been burned throughout the day, and set and track fitness goals. My favorite feature, however, is that everyone who has an iBitz device may sync it onto the same “iBitz unity” app. This allows you to compete against each other to see who was the most active over the space of a day, week or month. I don’t know about you, but trying to keep up with my kids’ activity levels is going to help get me fit, fast!

This is a fantastic system to get your family up and moving, by making fitness a fun part of a healthy lifestyle. I think this is why Parents’ Choice named the iBitz Kid Wireless Pedometer as a Winner of the “Parents’ Choice Recommended” Award!
