In less then a week my husband and I will be celebrating our 9 year wedding anniversary! With thanks to my mum for offering to babysit for the night, we have plans to go out for dinner and a fun date in Sacramento.
Even though we have been married for almost a decade (where has the time gone) I still like to make a special effort when we go out together without the kids. I try to put as much effort into primping and prepping as I did when we where first dating.
However, now that I am older (and more practical) packing my purse for our dates consists of less bright red lipstick and more “not-so-obvious” date night essentials! Here are a few of my practical suggestions to slip into your purse for a hot date:
• Travel-Sized Deodorant: Since our anniversary is in August and we live in Northern California, our date night is sure to get a little steamy (and yes, I’m talking about the weather). Because I want to smell spring-time fresh for my hubby, I pack along a travel sized deodorant in case I need to freshen up in the ladies’ room.
• Pocket-Sized Tissues: I am the type of girl who laughs with her eyes! When I get laughing, tears literally roll down my cheeks. Because my hubby can still give me some serious LOL’s it’s nice to have some tissues handy to wipe away any stray mascara lines!
• Awesome Playlist on my Phone: After my hubby and I have chatted about work, politics, the weather, tried unsuccessfully to not mention the kids, and laughed at the couple sitting at the table next to us at dinner, we sometimes find a lull in the conversation. It’s at that time that I like to whip out an awesome musical playlist! Ever since our first date (which was free lawn tickets to a “Joe Satriani” concert) my hubby and I have enjoyed sharing a wide variety of music. So a great eclectic playlist always gets us laughing and sharing fun memories associated with each song.
• CharcoCaps®: My hubby and I both love spicy Indian Cuisine, but our kids do not, so we love to indulge in some yummy butter chicken, samosas and naan bread on our date nights. While my taste buds are in heaven with all of the curries and spices, my stomach is often left feeling more like a gas-station. Now, after 9 years of marriage, my husband has been exposed to just about everything I have to offer…. Good and bad (especially after two pregnancies filled with bloating, gas and vomiting).
However, when I’m on a date with him, I want to be a little more on the elegant side. So, if I know we will be eating some place with greasy or spicy food, I am sure to slip some CharcoCaps into my purse for instant relief from embarrassing stomach gas.
CharcoCaps® are anti-gas capsules that are proven to adsorb and eliminate intestinal gas and bloating fast. They are a natural dietary supplement that can be used for long term or daily use with no side effects. The unique thing about CharcoCaps is that it uses activated charcoal (which has been used for centuries in medicinal purposes) to naturally relieve gas issues.

• Red Lipstick and a Winning Smile: Ok, so maybe this one IS a little obvious, but after-all this IS a date we are talking about! After 9 years my hubby is still the love of my life. So whether out on the town or just hanging out at home, I don’t think it’s a bad thing to turn on the charm now and then!
