This spring I had a Close Encounter of the Kia Soul kind when I was visited by this spunky Alien Green vehicle. It was a blast to drive! I was amazed by the roomy cabin, offering oodles of space and storage. After a very stressful winter, I was beyond ecstatic to get invited to the Disney Social Media Moms conference. I just knew I had to show up in style. I had the 2014 Kia Soul, which I was offered to test drive, delivered to my house just for this special occasion. This bad boy handled freeway traffic with ease, and I made my trip without any complications. I drove my alien friend from Northern California to Southern California, where I arrived at the Disneyland Resort Hotel, sans kids!
Most auto writers are impressed with the Kia Soul’s high-quality materials and comfortable, supportive seats. I have absolutely no complaints in this department. I loved the six-speaker stereo with the cool Infinity sound system. For nighttime driving, the neon interior door speakers that change colors are a nice feature. They add just the right amount of funk to my driving experience. The Kia Soul has praise for the bevy of standard features, including a Bluetooth, satellite radio, USB and auxiliary inputs and steering wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls. I loved the infotainment system with the intuitive touch screen. With the newer cars, I quite enjoy taking advantage of the backup camera. The navigation system was definitely put to excellent use as I cruised around LA with the panoramic sunroof open to enjoy the SoCal rays.
Because I was able to do a little long distance driving, as well as city driving, I was able to compare it’s handling as well as gas mileage. For the size of the vehicle, I was pleased with the mileage I was able to get. Drivers can expect up to 24 mpg for city, and 31 mpg for highway driving.
While I didn’t have my kids on this trip, I like to consider storage space when testing out a car. Because of the shape and size of the Kia Soul, I was nervous that the storage space would be lacking. I was very impressed with the ability to lay my suitcases flat in the back, as well as laundry baskets and a couple of bags of groceries. Definitely more space than my parent’s Toyota Highlander!
The 2014 Kia Soul was a fun and comfortable ride. Be sure to check it out for more specs.

I smile every time I see one of these going down the road. It’s nice to know the Soul is a great car, that also looks like so much fun to drive.
