Do you love History? Do you love Romance? Do you love Fantasy with a twist of Time Travel? Do you love Science or Medicine? Do you love Action Packed Battles, War or Chivalry? Do you love Adventure? Well, I’ve got the series for you! Outlander has it ALL! I read the book series a few years ago (book 8 was just released in June), after my mom introduced me to it. The only other series of books I’d read in my adult life was Twilight, which doesn’t come close to comparing to the intelligently written and researched Outlander series. Diana Gabaldon’s characters are beyond vivid, strong and enduring. Outlander is a classic series that can be read and read again.
And now . . . Time Warner Cable is bringing the series to life on STARZ. I had a clear picture of these characters in my mind, and STARZ didn’t disappoint when I was privileged to see an advanced release of the first episode. I must say that I’m pretty cautious about movies I’ll view and steer away from R rated movies. But I was so invested in the Outlander book series that I knew I had to see what Time Warner Cable had to offer. The characters are true to the written books, the scenery is lush and vivid, and the story is spot on to what Diana Gabaldon intended in her books. These books could only be done in an extended series because you wouldn’t want to miss a single event in this classic love story, framed by true historical events.
Outlander follows the story of Claire Randall, a British married combat nurse in WWII who is mysteriously swept back in time from 1945, thru standing stones, to 1743 in the Highlands of Scotland where she meets Jamie Fraser – an absolute hunk of a Scottish Warrior. Forced to marry Jamie and struggle being out of place in time, a romantic love affair ignites that tears Claire’s heart apart as she tries to find her place between two vastly different times, men and worlds.
Diana Gabaldon’s international best-selling books span the genres of science fiction, romance, history and adventure. I have the greatest admiration for her, her education, intelligence, research and the beautiful characters she’s created. I’ve learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed my escapes into her novels. I can’t wait to see the remainder of the series on STARZ!
Outlander premieres on STARZ Aug. 9, 2014 at 9PM EST/PST. Join me as you meet Claire Beauchamp Randall Fraser, Jamie Fraser, Frank Randall, Black Jack Randall and a host of colorful characters. Learn about the Scottish Jacobite Wars, and the multitude of uses of a Highland Kilt. Ah . . . Men in Kilts – doesn’t get any better.
