I recently got the opportunity to participate in a live cooking demo and video chat with MasterChef Luca Manfe, as he shared cooking tips, advice and demonstrated how to use the Phillips AirFryer, which I received for review. Plus, I’m sharing an easy recipe for Breakfast Frittata!
Luca Manfe was the winner of season 4 of MasterChef, and has recently released a cookbook, “My Italian Kitchen”. As someone who loves food, and loves to cook, it was so exciting to chat with him, and to be able to feel of his passion for delicious, wholesome food. I also loved how down-to-earth he was. He seemed like someone who was just a really really nice guy. I also could have listened to his wonderful Italian accent all day! During his video chat he spoke a lot about some of the practical techniques he uses for cooking at home with his own family, which I found to be really useful advice.
Here are the top 5 tips that I took from our little chat that I plan to use in my own kitchen.
1. Nourish Those You Love- Manfe talked about how his wife recently had a baby, and has had most of the responsibility of feeding the baby and getting up at night. He said, that as a man, this leaves him feeling rather helpless because there really isn’t a lot of help he can offer. However, he said that something he can do, is to nourish her by preparing the meals. I really liked this sentiment that no matter how helpless we may feel when a loved one is going through a struggle, there is always something we can do to nourish them.
2. Italian Meatballs– Manfe gave us the secret to his amazing Italian meatballs. He said he first learned how to make them in his mom’s real Italian Kitchen and then put his own spin on them. He said that the secret is a little bit of white wine in the mixture. He also said that he likes to change them up a little by making them with lamb meat as opposed to the traditional ground beef.
3. Tablespoon of Olive Oil- Something that Manfe mentioned is that adding a tablespoon of olive oil to your recipes can really improve the flavor of your cooking without making the meal too unhealthy.
5. Phillips AirFryer– Manfe told us about a new and innovative appliance that he is using in his own home, The Phillips AirFryer (retails for $349). This appliance allows you to get a delicious fried taste, while only using a tablespoon or less of oil. It also has a special air circulation system that allows the food to cook faster and with precision. Manfe shared that with the Airfryer he can make a healthy meal for his family in minutes. He also shared that the healthier fries are amazing!
5. Frittata Recipe- during the demo Manfe showed us step by step how to make his simple, healthy and delicious breakfast frittata using the Phillips Air fryer. It looked amazing and literally only took a few minutes to prepare, making it a perfect meal for families on the go! Here is his recipe:
Recipe: Breakfast Frittata
Ingredients:
3 eggs
½ Italian sausage
4 cherry tomatoes (in half)
1 tablespoon olive oil
Chopped parsley
Grano Padano cheese (or parmesan)
Salt/Pepper
1. Preheat AirFryer to 360 degrees
2. Place olive oil, tomatoes and sausage and any other veggies (Manfe suggested some optional ingredients such as spinach, onion, mushrooms) in the Airfryer baking accessory and bake at 360 degrees for 5 minutes.
3. In a small bowl, whisk eggs and other ingredients together
4. Remove the baking accessory from the AirFryer. Add the egg mixture. Bake in Airfryer for 5 minutes.
To be a MasterChef in your own home, be sure to get the Phillips Airfryer for healthy, delicious, meals that will impress your family (and only take you minutes to prepare).

I watched the season when Luca won and was hoping he would win. Thanks for the unique interview. The “fryer” looks great just seems a bit too expensive, I will see if I can get it for a better price if possible as I feel we fry too much.

I love tip No.3 the most as I started applying it long long times ago. A tablespoon or even half spoon of olive oil can improve the flavor and taste of the food a lot. I agree that olive oil is not as unhealthy as industrial oil. Even when you french fry your potato chips with an air fryer, a drop of olive oil can make the chips brown and more shining exterior. I love olive oil. It is the first time I learn about tip No.5, pretty interesting and perhaps I will try if I have time.
