Having a new baby is a wonderful and amazing experience that changes our lives for the better. However, when you are in the midst of late night feedings, diaper blow-outs, a fussy cry and no sleep, a little encouragement can go a long way. For this reason, I decided to put a new spin on the classic and practical tradition of gifting a new mom a box of diapers with my DIY Baby Shower Gift: “Encouragement for a Poopy Day.”  Gift basket.

I started by heading to Sam’s Club to pick up a box of diapers, as I knew they would give me the best bang for my buck, and they did not disappoint with Huggies® Products. I found this awesome box of New Huggies Little Movers that is now an even better value as it comes with 4 extra diapers (aka 4 extra encouraging words). I also picked Huggies Little Movers because they are the choice I would make for my own child. They have a leak lock system that provides up to 12 hours of leak protection. They also now have double strip grips, which is a system that uses two sets of fasteners to keep the diaper securely in place. Perfect for wiggly little bottoms! If a mom is having a “Poopy day” these little comforts could make all the difference!

To make the gift simply take one of the New Huggies Little Movers Diapers and write a few words of encouragement onto the front or back of the diaper in permanent marker. Be sure to write slowly as that will prevent the markers from bleeding too much and keep your message legible. Then simply arrange the diapers in a gift basket and attach this printable tag for a unique and thoughtful gift. It could be just the “pick-me-up” that a new mom needs during a late night diaper change.

This gift basket would make a great baby shower gift, but would also make a wonderful “just thinking of you gift” for any mom with kids in diapers. I plan to gift my basket to a friend who has a 1 year old whose hubby is deployed for the military right now, just as a little gift of encouragement.

Here is some inspiration on little messages to write on your diapers:

• You can do hard things
• Only moms know the true meaning of 24/7
• Call me
• God gives the hardest battles to his strongest soldiers
• You are capable of more then you know
• In the eyes and the hearts of your children, you are a super mom
• Mom: see also unconditional love
• There are few things more powerful then the prayers of a righteous mom
• I babysit
• Behind every great kid is a mom who thinks she is screwing up
• You may be just a mother to the world, but to your family you are the world
• You are loved
• Only a few more thousand of these to go
• One day you will look back on this and smile… Well maybe not THIS
• Breathe
