Check out how the Wonder Forge Board Games that I received for reviewed rated in the 2014 Holiday Gift Guide, plus enter to win some Wonder Forge games for your family to enjoy!
When the nights get dark and cold, there is something magical about gathering the family around a nice warm fire to play board games! I love it! I think that spending time together playing board games is a fantastic way to bond as family, and brings a togetherness that you just don’t get many other ways. This is why I always love to give my kids a new board game or two every Christmas. It’s something that we can all enjoy together, and the time that we spend playing them together is the real gift.
This year I discovered a new line of board games, Wonder Forge Games. These games put a new twist on traditional board games by incorporating some of your kids’ favorite characters into the board games including characters from Disney Junior, Marvel, Disney’s Frozen, Star Wars, Curious Geroge, Dr. Suess, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and more. To see a list of all of the the characters available and their corresponding games visit the Wonder Forge Website. Because I knew that my kids would be extra excited about playing games with some of their favorite character, I picked out a few Wonder Forge games for my own family for this Christmas. Here are our family’s picks:
• Pictopia: Disney Edition Trivia Game – A picture trivia game for the whole family, Disney Style
• Disney Jr Super Stretchy Game – Put one hand on Mickey and one foot on Sophia as your kids will enjoy twisting and turning on the colored mat filled with shapes and their favorite characters.
• Disney Frozen Surprise Slides™ Game – Players race to Elsa’s ice palace along the board, but watch out for ice slides that might set you back along the way.
• Ultimate Spider-Man™ Trickshot Duel™ Game – This fast paced 2 player disc-shooting game allows you to take out your opponent with a flick of your trigger.
• Dr. Seuss™ Charades Game – This new take on the classic game of charades is perfect for preschoolers and older kids to play together, because it makes the challenge of charades easy for young players with simple, easy to read picture cards.
• Star Wars™ Face Off Dice Game – Shake things up inside this two faced Luke Skywalker/ Darth Vader dice shaker. As you do, play a special edition dice game that will get the whole family bluffing!
Gift Guide Ratings:
Poor (or Budget for it), Average, Good, Excellent
Availability: Excellent– available on Amazon, and at Target, Walmart, Toys-R-Us and other large stores nationwide
Price: Average: ranging in price from 11.99-19.99
Durability: Good– All of the games that I received where well made for hours and hours of fun game play.
Interactive Features: Good– Most of these games are classic board games, without a lot of electronic interactive features, making it a great time to just use the game to interact person-to-person while playing! I think the simplicity of the some of the games makes it easier to focus on interacting with one another.
Educational Features- Excellent– Classic board games teach kids so many things such as counting spaces, strategy, random trivia, and social skills such as how to take turns and to be a good sport!
Value For Money: Excellent– these games are about average in price for board games. However Wonder Forge Games have the added benefit of incorporating some of your family’s favorite characters to create some extra excitement and imagination! These games are sure to be around for years worth of family game nights and fun!
Who I would buy it for: Most of the younger games are for ages 3+ and the older games are for ages 8+. I think these board games would make for a fun gift for an entire family. You could even put together a fun family game night basket including a few games and some yummy game night treats!
