Here in Northern California, we are not enjoying the cold and snowy weather that I have jealously been observing through the Facebook posts of friends and family in other states. But even we have had our first taste of some real Fall weather, and even had a rainy day this week!
For my kids, a rainy day brings all kinds of excitement…for about an hour… then the “cabin fever” sets in and they want to be doing something active. Whether it’s rain or snow keeping your kiddos inside more than normal, it’s good to have a few “cold weather” indoor activities up your sleeve for just such occasions.
One of our favorites is a living room dance party! I love doing this with my kids because it’s a great way for them (and me) to get some exercise on an indoor “cold-weather” day, with very little prep work or supplies. Simply throw on some of your favorite tunes, bust out some of your awesome moves, and you are good to go! We love our living room dance parties so much that I even invested in a cheap disco light to add to the atmosphere!

After busting out some hot moves for a cold day, my kids are usually ready for some dance party snacks! I love to make them a fun trail mix of Honey Nut Cheerios, peanuts, raisins and a few chocolate chips. Because the mix is packed full of whole grains, vitamins, minerals and protein its a snack that I feel good about feeding to my kids anytime! It fills them up, energizes them and gets them back to the dance (aka living room) floor in a flash!
