When I make big purchases, I like to do my research beforehand. I want to know exactly what I am getting and what I can expect from a product before I spend a lot of money on it. Reading reviews and product specs are just some of the things I do to gather information. The best way to know if I am going to like a product is to test it out ahead of time. That’s where Intel Technology Experience Zones come in handy; for more product testing at Best Buy.
According to a study by Intel and Toluna, most (79%) of Americans are excited about the chance to learn and try out new technologies, but half are frustrated by the lack of access to them beyond what they read or see in the media. Best Buy is trying to solve this dilemma. That’s why Intel and Best Buy are now teaming up to bring new Intel Technology Experience zones to select stores in major markets. Shoppers can get down and dirty with some of the latest hot tech products.
I live in the Sacramento, CA area, and I was able to head into the Citrus Heights store to play, explore, and be inspired by the power of technology with hands-on activities like 3D printing and virtual reality games. I had never seen anything like the 3D printing cube before, so it was very fascinating to watch my oldest create his own robot on the hands-on computer. Then there were samples of actual 3D printed robots!
My boys were especially glad they got to come with me to test out the many Intel products, because they got to show off their racing skills on Mars in an augmented reality world. There was a teeny bit of a learning curve (which is why hands-on demos are so fantastic!), but they picked their rovers and raced it around the makeshift Mars setup.
In the process of playing, what was really going on was a true test of the latest PC and tablet devices powered by Intel Processors. Not only was there game play, but for the musically minded, there was an opportunity to master beats and remix tracks by Ne-Yo as a digital DJ. Each season, Intel will refresh the venues with a new array of technology experiences.
