I don’t care how big of a lunch I pack my kids for school each day, they always come home hungry (and usually sweaty from afternoon P.E.). They would be content to sit on the couch and eat package after package of crackers, but the carbs just aren’t doing much for them. It takes a lot of crackers to fill them up too. I am always looking for quick and easy ways to fill my kiddos up, while providing wholesome nutrients they need to thrive, and to help them concentrate on their homework.
I usually give the kids a snack before sending them off to do their homework. Of course, after homework is complete the boys are usually off playing basketball, or with friends. Because of the brain power they need to get homework done, and then the energy and protein for more physical activity, I love my Chocolate Peanut Butter smoothie for after school snacking.
For that great chocolate flavor, I like using TruMoo Chocolate Milk. I am not a perfect mom, but there are some ingredients I try to avoid in my kids’ diet, such as high fructose corn syrup. I love TruMoo because it doesn’t contain artificial growth hormones, high fructose corn syrup, and it is fresh from a trusted dairy. Not to mention it tastes good!
My Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie is great for fueling the kids with energy before any sporting activity they may be involved in, or just for outside play. Not every debate with your kids has to be hard. Like TruMoo – it’s delicious and nutritious so everyone wins.
