This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of California Association of REALTORSĀ®. All opinions are 100% mine. Why I love my California home, plus some fun before and after remodel photos.
As I sit in my sunroom with my window open, I am grateful for the cool evening breeze and the smell of the neighbor’s vine wafting through the room. For those of you who follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed all of the flower and home remodel photos I’ve been posting. This is because I am in love with my California home! It’s not just the house, but the home my favorite people have made it.
The first couple of months after re-marrying, we stayed in a home I had been renting for the past year. It just never felt like the home for our family. My husband had his tools spread out between 3 houses, and we knew we’d need to move soon. So, we called our REALTORĀ® friend and sent him on the hunt.
Because Northern California has some truly beautiful land, and because the hubs likes to live in the country, we began our hunt for a home with some property. You see, my husband grew up with property in California, and grew up raising their own cattle. We are both believers in being self sufficient, and gardening and raising animals goes right along with that.
Unfortunately we couldn’t afford our dream home just yet, but we found the perfect home for our current needs. Our realtor was a dear and drove with us to many homes in a 60 mile radius. He made house shopping so much smoother than if we’d hunted on our own.
Let me just say that I love my home! It has been a work in progress, and we had to envision upgrades when we first looked at it, but it is all coming together. We got a great price, and the home was in fairly good condition, but outdated. We have done about a lot of work since we closed escrow on March 10th, and it is beautiful! We have more work to do, but it feels like home, and by doing the work ourselves, we have really created some good bonding time.
Aside from my sunroom, which I am in love with, I love the raised garden beds out back, and my rose bushes out front. We are fortunate to be able to grow so many different crops in California. I can’t wait to get to work on my garden.
Other notable mentions about where we live:
- Within a short bike ride for the kids, to grandma’s house
- Kids are back at their old school, with their friends
- Only 45 minutes to the in-laws
- 2 hours to the beach, and just an hour to the mountains!
- We can drive to Disneyland and Legoland in less than a day
