Let’s face it, childbearing can wreak havoc on the body. Stuff you had no idea could happen, happens. Add a twin pregnancy to all of that business, and boy am I in for it. I’m going to talk about a bit of a sensitive issue, but I’m sure this has happened to most of you moms out there. Raise your hand if you’ve been at a party, had a sudden laugh, then experience a bit of leakage – you know what I mean. Or how about that sneeze or cough that creeps up without warning before you’ve had a chance to contract a couple of important muscles (think Kegel exercises). Or worse yet, those muscles are so shot, there’s no contracting them. Leakage – right? Not so much of a problem if you’re at home, but if you’re at work, shopping, or any public event, then you’re damp until you can get home for a change. Yeah, who knew this was gonna happen? It’s called Stress Urinary Incontinence or SUI. If you’ve got it, you want help.
I know it’s a bigger problem for some than for others, and from what I hear, the problem can increase as you get older and stuff has a general southward movement.
I’m not a fan of wearing an absorbent pad all the time – just in case. And face it, even if a pad does keep your clothes dry, the wet is still there, until you can make a change. I know, TMI, but it’s for real ladies.
I’ve just learned about Impressa by Poise, and was given the opportunity to give it a try. The most important thing about Impressa, is it comes in a 3 size kit for you to try out, to find the most comfortable and effective fit. Just so you know, I’m a 1 – that’s what worked best for me. Now that doesn’t tell you anything unless you understand how it works.
Impressa is inserted into your nether region, like a tampon, but it’s shaped differently. Once it’s in, it helps support the urethra from the vaginal wall and controls the flood waters. Not only does it prevent leaks, but allows you to use the bathroom normally throughout the day. The different sizes vary in width and from low, medium to high depending on where you need support most. The Impressa website has great information, diagrams and guidance.
The Impressa is inserted in the morning or whenever you want 8 hours of peace of mind, and it will be good for 8 hours. Then you remove it, and put in a new one the next day or when you’re fearful of embarrassment.
The best thing about the Poise Impressa is it’s available at your local Walmart. No doctor visits or prescriptions needed. Buy the kit, try the size 1 first, if it works, then that’s your size. If you still experience some leakage, try the 2 and so forth. Obviously, there are times you can’t use the Impressa. If those times aren’t obvious to you, visit the website for a clear idea of do’s and don’ts.
If incontinence is an issue for you, then I’m glad I could be of service. Don’t let that sudden giggle, cough or sneeze be an embarrassing moment again.
