School officially began for us yesterday, but I’m not ready to let summer go! We have a boat, and this is the first year my kids have gotten to use it, because hubby just brought it to our new marriage. We told ourselves we would take it out every week this summer, but with busy schedules it just hasn’t happened. So, we have vowed not to let school get in the way of our last bit of summer fun. I’d like to show you how we stay stocked and prepared with a secret stash of snacks for last minute fun.
Whether your last bit of summer takes you boating, to the park, on waterslides, or wherever it may be, having an easy stash of snacks makes getting out the door at the last minute, a breeze. I opt for nutritious snacks, but usually sneak in a couple treats. I love Target’s Simply Balanced and Archer Farms brands for affordability and wholesomeness. I have found a lot of the Simply Balanced snacks to be organic, whole grain and just something moms can feel good about feeding their kids.
As I said, we have a secret stash of snacks, which we keep in our closet. We rummage through our stash and fill up our cooler and/or picnic basket, and we’re off. We always keep sunscreen handy too, because our activities frequently take us outdoors. Target’s Up & Up brand of sunscreen is super affordable too.
For snacks that will please the whole family, here are my go-to must-have snacks to keep on hand:
- Simply Balanced Chocolate Chip Chewy Granola Bars (the Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip bars are good too)
- Simply Balanced Dark Chocolate Mixed Berry candies (these are for me!)
- Archer Farms Peanut Butter Monster Trail Mix and Sunny Cranberry Mix
- Simply Balanced Fruit Strips
- Market Pantry Teriyaki Beef Jerky
- Archer Farms Blueberry Granola
- Simply Balanced Organic Fruit Punch
As you can see, I like to cover my bases with a variety of proteins, carbs/grains and sweets. I always keep bottled water on hand, always, so that is sure to go with us when we’re ready for some last minute fun.
