Self-Sharpening Cutlery with Calphalon Knives

Raise your hand if you’ve got a drawer full of dull knives in your kitchen. There’s nothing worse for meal prep than not having good tools. Dull knives increase your prep time, and can be a safety hazard. Are your knives loose in a drawer? That’s hazardous, as well, as you reach in to retrieve one, you’re risking injury – and it’s bad for keeping knives in good condition. Calphalon®  is here to help rescue you from danger and dullness with their beautiful, contemporary, self-sharpening cutlery. I have a gorgeous new set sitting elegantly on my kitchen counter – and it’s not only gorgeous, but super functional. No more dull, loose knives in a drawer for me.

I was given a couple of very good knives as a wedding gift, and I love them, but they must be factory sharpened. I’m not so good at staying on top of that, so this new Calphalon Contemporary Self-Shapening set is perfect for me. Calphalon has always been a name to trust in kitchenware. The knives are beautifully crafted and the block is a work of art. Each time you remove or replace a knife from the proper slot, it gets a sharpening, so your knives are always in perfect condition. I love that there’s the perfect knife for every kitchen task. Part of having a good set of cutlery is learning to use them properly, for the right task.

Once you learn the role of each beautifully crafted piece of cutlery, you’ll quickly be careful to place it in the correct slot. The slots in the lovely block are stainless steel and have integrated sharpeners. Only knives with straight cutting edges should be placed in these slots. My block provides a couple of slots for serrated knives, as they do not need to be sharpened – it ruins the edge.

Calphalon knives have fully forged blades – the highest quality of steel in cutlery, bolster and tang (the steel goes all the way through the handle) along with a contoured comfort grip to make handling easier.  So your Calphalon Cutlery can withstand some of the toughest kitchen jobs. Calphalon has a variety of videos demonstrating knife skills, which are super handy and can help with so many different foods.

My new knives were well used just recently for our pumpkin carving. I think we used 3 different knives to achieve the desired results. I have a new favorite breakfast, for which these knives serve an excellent role in. I quite enjoy having a slice of toast, buttered, and topped with an egg and some avocado (bacon too if you’re feeling it). So easy, but so yummy. All of the protein needed for a great start to the day, and my Calphalon knives do a handy job in helping me to accomplish this.

It’s also very important to take proper care of your knives – treat them well, and they will serve you well. Never put them in the dishwasher or leave them to soak in the sink. Try your best to wash immediately after use, and dry with a soft cloth, then replace in their special slot on the storage block.  Never use harsh abrasives. Be gently! You’ll be so pleased for many years to come with this beautiful set, and surprised at the ease of food preparation and serving. Personally, I love the steak knives, not only for individual use at the table, but I find they’re perfect for many preparation tasks – and it’s fun to have so many handy for use.

Now for the really fun part – one Clever Housewife reader will win their very own set of Calphalon Knives ($219 value). The giveaway is a quick turn around and ends at 11:59pm PT on 11/6. To enter, fill out the form below.
