This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of The a2 Milk Company™. All opinions are 100% mine.
For as long as I can remember, I have not been a milk drinker. It’s not that I never liked the taste of milk, but it just never quite sat right. I have had allergy tests and none have come back with dairy or milk allergy. So, I self diagnosed myself with lactose intolerance issues. I’m going to show you how you can enjoy a Chocolate Peanut Butter Smoothie with this little fact about milk. With this knowledge and product, smoothies won’t be the only thing you will now enjoy with milk!
I was just introduced to a2 Milk®, and I think it just might change the way I eat and drink! I have never done research on milk or why it might bother my tummy, but luckily for me, there are people who have. Now I’d like to teach you what I have learned. Originally, all milk contained only the A2 protein. Over time a genetic mutation occurred in cows and a new type of protein developed called A1. This A1 protein causes digestive discomfort and is in all cows’ milk in-stores today, even organic milk.
a2 Milk Company™ has partnered with U.S. family dairy farmers in upstate New York and the Midwest to expand the a2™ herd. The a2 herd was mostly out of the country, but we are getting them here in the US! These cows naturally produce milk with only the A2 protein. If you are the type of person who really cares what goes into your foods, then you will be happy to know that these a2 farmers are certified in the humane treatment of animals, their cows are fed a vegetarian diet and never given hormones or rBST, and the milk is antibiotic free and contains no artificial ingredients or additives.
How does this affect us? Well, now in stores such as Whole Foods and Sprouts, we can purchase the a2 milk, and possibly get rid of some of those digestive issues we may have previous had with regular milk. Use the Product Locator to see where they are selling a2 Milk® near you.
To introduce drinking milk back into your diet, I have come up with an all natural chocolate peanut butter smoothie, to start your day right. Get your calcium and protein intake in a natural and healthy way, right off the bat each morning. This smoothie recipe is one of my favorites and now I can enjoy it without a belly ache!
