Being the Disney lover that I am, I get excited when I see Disney trailers for new movies, or remakes of movies I loved as a child. Such is the case when I recently found the new Disney trailers for Beauty and the Beast, Pete’s Dragon, and Moana! You see, I have a different connection with each of these movies, and I imagine most of you will too.
Beauty and the Beast Teaser Trailer
Growing up, Beauty and the Beast was always my favorite Disney film. Out of all of the Disney princesses, I felt I had the most in common with Belle. I didn’t feel like a princess myself, but I loved to pretend, and being a brunette and a lover of books, I felt a lot like Belle. Music has always been a passion of mine, and the songs in Beauty and the Beast are so much fun to sing, and to play on the piano. I’ve also had the privilege of attending the Broadway Musical of Beauty and the Beast.
When I heard Beauty and the Beast was coming back to the big screen, and with Emma Watson playing Belle, I was giddy with excitement. I still am! The cast is outstanding with Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McKellen and Emma Thompson. Between you and me, Stanley Tucci is one of my all-time favorite actors!
Beauty and the Beast will be in theaters everywhere on March 17, 2017. I’ll be there with bells on!
Pete’s Dragon Trailer
Pete’s Dragon is a movie that brings back fond memories of the part of my childhood spent with my dear cousin, Jordan. My cousin and I were best of friends until his parent’s divorced and he moved two states away, at the age of 9. I was brokenhearted – we did everything together! I don’t remember ever watching Pete’s Dragon without Jordan. Needless to say, I have fond memories of the film, and I’m excited to see the newly reimagined version never-before-seen footage of of Elliott (Pete’s Dragon). Included are stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Robert Redford and is directed by David Lowery.
If you’ve never seen Pete’s Dragon, here is what you need to know:
For years, old wood carver Mr. Meacham (Robert Redford) has delighted local children with his tales of the fierce dragon that resides deep in the woods of the Pacific Northwest. To his daughter, Grace (Bryce Dallas Howard), who works as a forest ranger, these stories are little more than tall tales…until she meets Pete (Oakes Fegley). Pete is a mysterious 10-year-old with no family and no home who claims to live in the woods with a giant, green dragon named Elliot. And from Pete’s descriptions, Elliot seems remarkably similar to the dragon from Mr. Meacham’s stories. With the help of Natalie (Oona Laurence), an 11-year-old girl whose father Jack (Wes Bentley) owns the local lumber mill, Grace sets out to determine where Pete came from, where he belongs, and the truth about this dragon.
Disney’s “Pete’s Dragon” opens in U.S. theaters on August 12, 2016.
MOANA Teaser Trailer
Last, but not least is the brand new MOANA! I was able to visit Hawaii for the first time last year, on my birthday (November 30th), and I fell in love with the island, and all things Hawaiian!
MOANA is about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity.
Even better, MOANA comes to theaters this November 23rd, right before my birthday!
What upcoming Disney film are you looking forward to?
Romola says
The strength of Disney princesses has made me happy. I think it’s great to have another empowered role model.
