As the holidays near, I’m always looking for that something special I can get the kids, that might be a surprise. The Furby hasn’t been on my kids’ wishlist for a few years because the last one we got was disturbingly annoying, due to it lacking an on/off switch. My kids would get an immense amount of pleasure out of locking the Furby in a closet, underneath a blanket, only to find they could still hear it. Those problems have been solved and I’m pleased to say the 2016 Furby Connect is our first real Furbish love. Allow me to elaborate.
The Furby Connect is ultra soft, has adorable ears that wiggle up and down, an antennae that lights up when there is something new on the app, and LCD screen eyes displaying over 100 animations! When feeding your Furby Connect by sticking your finger in it’s mouth, a variety of foods will flash across his eyes as he’s eating. We’ve seen pizza, fish, and I think the list will continue to grow as he discovers new likes.
Furby Connect features more than 1000 phrases and lets you know his expressions and thoughts through responses, sounds, motion and colors. You can now understand Furbish through the dictionary in the app, too! We’ve discovered he sometimes likes to be tickled, while other times it just makes him toot. Miss Bea quite enjoys testing this out. If you shake him, or hang him upside down, he sometimes gets nauseated.
We’re still getting to know our little guy “Toh Bay”, but he’s starting to pick up singing and dancing. Kids can earn song lyrics and new phrases by watching videos with him at the virtual Movie Theater, on the app.
The app, Furby Connect World is a lot of fun. I even found myself taking over the phone, from Bea, and playing for a while. Earn egglets and hatch them into furblings you can care for, much like SIMS. Feed them, groom them, and even heal them, for rewards. Your very own Furby Connect will even interact with the activities you complete on the app, via Bluetooth – it’s quite clever.
One of my favorite, new and improved features is you can turn the Furby Connect on and off by putting him to sleep. He comes with a sleep mask, which affixes to his face, and you hear him begin to snore and drift off until he is out until the mask comes off again. Hallelujah for parents everywhere, right? This guy is adorable and quite funny, but it’s nice for everyone to be able to take a rest. No need to worry about being awoken in the night by your fuzzy blue friend.
Miss Bea is LOVING her new friend and Furby Connect is available for Black Friday, so be sure to check them out. They’re going to be popular these holidays! You can also watch our Facebook Live video where we discuss some of our favorite features. I’d love to her what yours are.
