I love family vacations, but I’ve got to admit my kids aren’t the best road trippers. Anything I can do to change things up and get the kids interested in the road trip really helps. Our latest family road trip took us to SoCal, where we visited Universal Studios, to check out the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Rather than take our regular ol’ minivan, we opted for the new 7-passenger Mazda CX-9.
While the CX-9 doesn’t have as much space as our minivan, the kids were excited to have a brand new ride. As a family of 6, I knew there would be enough seats, but I was worried there wouldn’t be enough space. I’m happy to report that we did just fine in the Mazda CX-9, and we even had a great time! I just have to be smart about where I seat the kids, to avoid the most bickering. The two that bicker the most still had an empty seat between them, which was perfect for storing car snacks.
Because I’m used to the massive storage space in the back of my van, I feared our luggage wouldn’t fit in the Mazda, but I was wrong! My mom has a 7-passenger vehicle, but seriously lacks cargo space. I think it could fit maybe one small suitcase and that’s a stretch. Don’t even get me started on groceries. As you can see, we managed pretty well for cargo space!
The 2016 Mazda CX-9 is a full-size crossover SUV, complete with a Bose sound system and touchscreen display with Bluetooth, navigation and Pandora! My favorite feature is probably the gas mileage. For a V-6 engine, we did pretty well on our gas dollars, which is an important for a large family. The CX-9 has been redesigned to be slightly smaller, and lighter so it can be more efficient.
Another great vehicle by Mazda, so definitely check it out if you’re looking for a full-size crossover SUV!
