This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of InStyle®. All opinions and text are all my own. I’m sharing Spring fashion inspiration for the new me.
This month marks one year since I began my weight loss journey where I’ve lost 85 pounds. With this much weight loss, shopping and dressing has drastically changed from my heavier days. I wasn’t heavy for many years, but definitely yo-yo’d in my adult years due to multiple pregnancies and an abusive relationship. I’m happy to report all is on the up and up with a new me, wonderful new husband, and some fashion inspiration from InStyle Magazine.
There were so many things that bothered me about being overweight; from insecurity, baggage from emotional eating, aching joints, and to shopping for clothes. I’ve done a lot of repairing over the past few years, since my divorce, and I feel like a much healthier version of myself – inside and out. The really fun part is that dressing myself is way more fun now!
Whether it was because I gave up caring how I looked when I was heavier, or the styles just weren’t as flattering, I just didn’t feel very stylish. Now when I go to the store and try clothes on, I don’t leave super frustrated that nothing fits right. It’s kind of a nice feeling really!
I like to think I have some fashion sense of my own, but I’m not great at keeping up with the latest fashion trends. Luckily there are some excellent magazines out there, full of fashion advice! When I need a little me time, I pick up the latest copy of InStyle Magazine while shopping at Safeway for a yummy treat just for me. If I had a bathtub (the bathroom remodel starts this month!!!) I would draw myself a bubble bath and take a soak while checking out the latest fashion, and eating something yummy (chocolate is always good).
Since I’m still waiting for my giant whirlpool tub to get installed, I currently use my porch swing as my quiet space for me time. My huge front porch is what really sold me on this house last August, and whether it’s rain or shine, I’m protected from the elements and really enjoy perusing my magazines on the swing. Some other favorites are Real Simple®, StyleWatch® and PEOPLE®.
Over the weekend, I picked up the brand new March edition of InStyle, and it is full of ensembles: outfits, sunglasses and handbags. I picked out a few of my favorite looks featured in the magazine and treated myself to a little shopping trip. Doesn’t this sound like a great way to “Award Yourself with Me Time”?
I’ve got to admit I was a little surprised at some of the Trend Reports (you’ll just have to pick up a copy to see for yourself), but some of spring fashion looks I’m pretty excited about are white pants, denim jackets, stripes, red heels and one-piece black swimsuits.
Only recently have I become a lover of white skinny jeans that can be worn as-is or rolled up at the ankle. I’m going to go out on a ledge and say it just might be possible the rule of no wearing white before Memorial Day or after Labor Day is squashed. Just maybe? Using fashion inspiration from InStyle, I’ve put together a few outfits that really make me feel trendy and on-point with my look. How am I doing so far?
I’d love to hear your fashion stories, and your favorite spring fashion looks from the latest InStyle edition.
